There appeared to be a real enthusiasm around the renewed Gardabags. There were several major brands – including Pelletteria Charlotte, Marina Galanti, Marchetti, Henney Bear, Innuè, Keddo, Nannini, Marta Marzotto, Xti and Vuch. For the other areas, there was strong international participation from various European countries: Turkey, India, China and Bangladesh.
The luggage selection is certainly worth highlighting. An important delegation from one of China’s major travel goods manufacturing hubs – Pinghu (Zhejiang) – was exhibiting at the fair.

“Once again we featured what have become key fixtures of Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags,” explained Ms Albarelli. “The Innovation Village Retail, which hosted a new group of start-ups presenting their innovative ideas for the retail sector; the Highlights Area, where visitors could explore upcoming consumer trends in footwear, bags and sneakers for both men and women – valuable insights for making more informed purchasing decisions during the fair; and the Market Focus sessions, which offered targeted guidance on developments in international markets.
Which shoes and bags should buyers purchase for their shop windows?

n an increasingly fluid and complex fashion market, key trends emerge such as sophisticated harmony, artisanal authenticity, and urban glamour. Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags offered the exclusive opportunity to discover and explore new trends. Here is a taste of some of the main topics that were addressed in the talks dedicated to shoes and bags at this month’s show…
Footwear
Consumers are looking for essential and refined shoes, with discreet luxury and artistic lines. Sandals that appear sculpted and feature eye-catching straps are accompanied by impeccably designed mules that interpret elegance and comfort. In parallel, there is a growing appreciation for natural materials, lived-in details, and a simplicity that communicates attention to craftsmanship and sustainability. For those
who love to dare, bold models with precious finishes, graphic prints and vibrant colour accents are emerging, telling a story of fashion as an expression of personality.
Sneakers are confirmed as absolute protagonists, combining futuristic technology and personal style, exploring extreme volumes, fluorescent colour palettes, and bold technical constructions. The more glamorous models, on the other hand, transform everyday materials like denim into style statements with couture details and jewel finishes, expressing freedom and visual energy.
Bags, leather goods and luggage The bag becomes a fluid expression of an increasingly uncategorisable personal style. Delicate geometric shapes, precious materials and lightly reinterpreted vintage details define the new harmonious sophistication. Alongside this trend is the refined opulence that emerges thanks to exotic textures: pythons, crocodiles, and boudoir details that capture attention. But there is also a growing sensitivity towards the authentic beauty of craftsmanship, valuing organic materials and timeless shapes that last far beyond individual seasons.
“We also wanted to emphasise the importance of welcoming an increasingly international and diverse group of buyers. Internationalism is in our DNA, and it permeates every aspect of the event – from the variety of exhibitors to the start-ups featured in the Innovation Retail Village. This month we hosted nine start-ups from seven different countries, who all presented their innovations to an equally international panel of judges.” Ms Albarelli added: “It’s a rich offering, made easy to navigate thanks to Digital Connection, the event’s official app, where users can find the exhibitor and product catalogue, an interactive map, tools to manage their appointments, the full event schedule, and details on various services like transfers and shuttles.”
