Cheryl Taylor, Editor, talks to footwear retailer Justin Mansfield of Wards Shoes in Bakewell, Belper, Chesterfield and Worksop.
Kindly tell us about your shops, their location and your customers? We have four shops; 3 in Derbyshire, Bakewell, Belper and Chesterfield and one in Nottinghamshire, Worksop - where the business was founded in 1954.
What made you decide to buy this brand? We were looking for a new brand that could offer trend led product at a mid-price point - yet still be comfortable and fit!
How did you find out about the brand, where and when? We had stocked Tamaris years ago and regularly saw their product at the shoe shows.
Which features of the brand do you like best and why? Comfort, price and fit.
How does this brand compare with other brands in the same category you stock/have stocked? Tamaris has performed very well for us, out-performing other ladies brands like Clarks.
Which Tamaris styles have worked best for you? We do especially well with their boots, sandals and flat pumps.
Is the brand one of your best-sellers? Where does it stand price-wise? Tamaris is regularly in our top five performing ladies brands. Price wise it sits nicely between premium brands such as Gabor & Ecco and price entry product like Jana and Lunar.
Which are the most popular styles? Their boots always sell well.
Have you recommended the brand to other retailers? Yes, definitely!
Please tell about the service you receive from the manufacturer? Easy buying journey - we visit a local stockroom twice a year to place our forward orders and now have access to their b2b website, so we can easily repeat on the best-selling lines.
