LONDON SHOE SHOW REVIEW
London Shoe Show, Tara Hotel, Kensington, London - March 4th – 5th March 2018
his year’s London Shoe Show exceeded all expectation of exhibitors with footfall up 50% on the previous show. Despite the bad weather days before, retailers attended on masse to view the more than 30 collections on show.

There is no doubt that trade is challenging and the mood among exhibitors was initially cautious. However retailers understand the need to differentiate their shops by offering unique product – not widely available on the high street, and ever more importantly on line.
Retailers were united in complimenting the freshness of the collections on offer
and stressing the opportunity the brands showing offered for margin. Both large and small retailers from both main stream and boutiques enjoyed
the relaxed, informal yet professional surroundings the Copthorne Tara offers. Ease of access and parking are critical as well as access to a multitude of cuisines to grab either a working snack or enjoy a post exhibition dinner.
The already fully booked September Show – 23rd / 24th – will again offer the opportunity for discerning stores to demonstrate their uniqueness whilst staying on trend for the market.
The show organiser – Justin Morgan of HB said- we are delighted with both the number and quality of retailers we have seen at this year’s event; we are only sorry we do not have a bigger venue as the waiting list to exhibit is now becoming embarrassing. Exhibitors and retailers come to London to write orders; the timing, after the larger European and national shows allows us all to tidy up the season at a relaxed and efficient trade show.

“The show was busy and as buzzy as ever. It’s a great order writing show and the buyers that attend are serious and know exactly what they need.
We had our strongest AW orders ever at the
event and also saw an uplift in SS18 stock orders over the 2 days.
Unisa have had a very strong AW18/19 season with their ankle boots and cool evening bags. I see a move away from glitzy winter dressing with customers choosing bright colours over sparkle.
Our surprise hit for the season was a sophisticated old pink colour. On our new court shoe shape Killy and paired with the Zcarola bag it looked fresh for the transitional phase where people are still attending weddings and functions.” Sam Hunt, Unisa.

“The market is difficult at the moment with the uncertainty of Brexit and the unseasonal weather. On a positive note retailers and agents battled the snow and ice to get to London in March. The Hogl AW18 Collection was received very well by our exisiting and new customers, showing that Hogl continue to show on trend looks combined with quality and comfort. The London Shoe Show is a great 2 day event and positioned well in the diary.” Johnny Woolfson, Hogl Sales Agent.
“Yet again we had a fabulous Show at The London Shoe Show with a good mix of buyers, despite challenging times on the high street. This is now becoming one of our most important shows not only for existing customers but also opening new accounts.” Nicola Sexton, Nicola Sexton Shoes.
