Maureen Jamieson, the finance director of Newcastle-based instrumentation control and automation specialist, CMR UK, has been appointed to the EEF Regional Advisory Board for the North East. The move will see her working alongside other members to help regional engineering and manufacturing businesses share best practice and develop specific capabilities, while also advocating the achievements of North East industry.
Offsite Solutions has reaffirmed its position as one of the UK’s leading bathroom pod manufacturers, with its second ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ award. This latest award was presented at the Business Leader Awards and follows the Manufacturer of the Year award which Offsite Solutions won at the Made in the South West Awards last year. The company was also a finalist in the Made in the UK Awards.
RS Components (RS) has been recognised at the inaugural Electronics Industry Awards 2018, winning in the Academic Support category. RS also received a ‘Highly Commended’ award in the Distributor of the Year category.
London-based investment fund, Fuel Ventures, has invested £500,000 in an on-demand manufacturing platform, which connects design and production engineers with suitable and trusted manufacturers to create custom parts. The site, which has attracted a global network of engineers and manufacturers, allows customers to get instant quotes and place orders, from prototypes to full scale production, on a single platform.
Drone pilots working on industrial sites can earn their wings by undertaking a programme of structured training and testing, which has been given the green light by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB).
