EVENT Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2023
Southern Manufacturing & Electronics returns in February 2023
S
outhern Manufacturing & Electronics 2023 will be held at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre in early February. The show is split almost equally between the worlds of mechanical engineering and electronics. It is not just a showcase for industry and engineering from the UK and Ireland, but also a major venue for companies from continental Europe and further afi eld to present their latest technologies.
Many exhibitors have supported the show since the beginning and the percentage of returning fi rms is very high. Having under one roof the best of mechanical engineering and electronics operating at the forefront of technology and innovating across a multitude of sectors gives the event a unique character. It is the go-to place to address multiple sourcing requirements effi ciently, especially in times when supply chains are under pressure. Microelectronics and PCB manufacturer Accelonix will show its PARMI 3D automatic optical inspection platforms, conveyors and surface mount technology (SMT) production equipment. Another leading supplier of electronic manufacturing hardware, Bentec, will explain the benefi ts of using its automatic splicing machines. Brady Corporation off ers solutions to automate PCB labelling in SMT lines. With CNC machining, SMT and PCB assembly capabilities, TopHex provides solutions that set customers’ products apart in a competitive market. Technologies off ered include graphic displays and touchscreens, adaptive control, automation and environmental and energy-saving measures. On the mechanical engineering side,
measurement solutions developer Blum Novotest will show its latest range of in- process control systems that allow users of CNC machine tools to automate machining processes for right-fi rst-time parts. Those attending the show will learn how to improve their productivity by connecting automated metrology systems and software off ered by the Sempre Group. Visitors will also be invited to bring samples to the Vision Engineering stand and try the company’s LVC200 3-axis automated measuring machine and TVM non-contact measurement system. With over 40 years experience in building manufacturing automation machinery, Denny Bros Engineering will be promoting its in-house production facility, located in

Bury St Edmunds. Its services are aimed principally at the label, packaging and pharmaceuticals sectors. Servo Components & Systems supplies a range of motion products, including linear electric actuators and motors, servo drives, brushless motors and gearheads. They can be assembled into simple pick & place, XYZ gantry, push/pull or stacking systems for entry-level robotics and automation. Lehmann Rotary Tables will promote its Swiss-made clamping systems for workpiece and pallet handling, including automatic workholding, using a quick-change zero- point clamping system. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) IT software specialist Medatech UK will present its Priority ERP, which focuses of automation, personalisation and customisation. Eurotherm supplies control and
measurement instruments to the industrial and process markets, aiming to improve effi ciency, maximise availability and assure regulatory compliance. It is renowned for
Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2023 opens from 7th to 9th February. The event is co-located with AutoAero, dedicated to aerospace and automotive engineering. Bus service to the show, admission and parking are free
its precision controls and high-integrity data acquisition and recording. Likewise, INDUS Engineering off ers a wide range of electrical, mechanical and automation services to its industrial clients, specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke factory automation and control systems. Keyence UK is another leader in the manufacture of factory automation solutions, known for its range of high-performance sensors, machine vision, microscopes, metrology systems and laser markers. A novel method of producing intricate
rotational components will be the centrepiece of the Citizen Machinery stand, featuring a sliding head automatic lathe with built- in laser cutting capability. Autonomous handling forms a core part of the off erings from most CNC machine tool suppliers, and numerous companies will be present to explain the benefi ts of robotic machine tending and other automatic workpiece load/ unload systems. They will include Mills CNC, NCMT, Yamazaki Mazak UK and YMT Technologies.
Automation skills will also be presented by Randex, which supplies lights-out vertical storage and retrieval systems that include robotic handling for items ranging from nuts and bolts to goods weighing 1.5 tonnes. Robafoam is another specialist company with technology and expertise focusing on automation, specifi cally the application of foam seals. Zygology, which specialises in self-clinch and press technology, will show a range of automatic riveting systems along with its latest fasteners and tools. Also, an extensive technical seminar programme will run over the full three days of the event.
