Advantech enhances
market-leading industrial edge computer line-up
L
eading industrial computing platform provider Advantech has further enhanced its IPC-200
series – the world’s most compact high-performance fan-based industrial edge computers, which are suitable for a broad spectrum of applications. The enhanced IPC-220/240 V2 and IPC-242 line-up
combines a small footprint, and easy-maintenance design with powerful computing capacity in the form of 10th generation Intel© Core™ processor. The IPC-200 series employs fans as a thermal
solution, meaning they work reliably even in an environment with no air flow. The smart fan’s speed adjusts automatically depending on the temperature to minimise noise, while the front- facing I/Os including hot-swappable HDD/SSD trays to facilitate cable routing and maintenance when the IPC is installed in a machine or control cabinet. The range boasts a self-diagnostics function
which monitors temperature, fan speed, watchdog timer status, with front LEDs which notify the user of required maintenance before a system defect can occur, minimising the risk of production loss due to machine controller failure.

SMP’s new website: Engineering expertise, vertical range of
manufacture and availability of passive components T
On its new website at
www.smp.de/en, SMP Sintermetalle Prometheus GmbH & Co KG (SMP)
showcases its wide range of innovative products, high level of engineering expertise, smart vertical range of manufacture, availability and wide-ranging applications of its inductive components. At its headquarters in Germany, SMP develops
and produces chokes, EMC filters, transformers and soft magnetic mouldings. The soft magnetic powder composites used in the passive components are specially developed for each application and manufactured in-house to ensure high availability. The extremely low-loss components are designed for currents of up to 3000 amperes and frequencies of up to 5 gigahertz. They are available in sizes from 19 mm to 300 mm diameter, with weights ranging from 0.05 kg to 130 kg. SMP components are used in applications in the
fields of power electronics, drives, automation, signal processing, medical technology, E-mobility, marine, railway, environmental technology, energy transformation, renewable energies and aerospace.

need to be supplied with energy over long distances, energy bus systems shine. When projects are being designed, whether they are airports, warehouses, or distribution centres, the planning and, more importantly, the acceptability of the electrical systems can be a major challenge for project planners and designers. If the components utilised have the necessary approvals, the effort involved can be considerably reduced. This is exactly what Wieland Electric's podis® 5G6 energy bus system gives, having recently gained UL system approval, adding to its’s existing TUV compliance. This means that exporting companies in particular, benefit from less testing and save time when it comes to getting their electrical systems approved. Wieland Electric now has a fully and coherently
documented installation system, thanks to the UL 2875 certification of the podis® 5G6 power bus systems, make it considerably easier to approve electrical installations on site, both in Europe and North America.

OLEC’s tough, ergonomic
ATS solution speeds up oil filling
part of international food and drink company Princes Group, to speed up the packing of a variety of edible oils including coconut and vegetable. The existing rotary filling machine at one of
A
EOL’s factories in Kent was struggling to keep up with the required production volumes of oil, owing to the design of the existing filling nozzles. Working with the customer, ATS designed a new nozzle that allowed a faster transfer of the liquid to the PET and glass bottles. In particular, the new nozzle design is able to
deliver a wide range of product viscosities, ensuring a smooth transfer of product and clean operation while maintaining high speeds. As a result, the line is now operating up to 23%
faster than the previous system, filling bottles at around 90 per minute.

Sandvik launches CRIBWISE SaaS tooling inventory management technology
division within Sandvik Machining and Manufacturing Solutions, is launching CRIBWISE™, a new software as a service platform in the U.K. and Ireland. CRIBWISE is a subscription-based cloud inventory
D
management solution that helps manufacturing businesses take control of their tooling inventory and related processes. The software enables tool, spare part and equipment management, automated purchase and service orders, automated tool dispensing, manufacturer catalogue services and smart reporting. CRIBWISE is modular, customisable and easy to
integrate for all sizes of machine shops. It helps improve productivity and machine life by reducing administrative time, hours spent searching for tools and production and maintenance delays. It also cuts unnecessary expenditure due to over-purchasing and over-stocking. Head of CRIBWISE, Joakim Johansson, says:
“Tooling costs can easily run into tens of thousands of pounds, and much of this can be attributed to outdated and unconsolidated tooling inventories that take up space and cause frustration.”
