ADVERTORIAL TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION A Complete Range of Machinery Safety Switches for use in ATEX Zones T

rotecting people from the dangers of work equipment can be especially difficult where potentially explosive gases and dusts are present.

Conventional safety interlocks for monitoring or securing doors are general- ly not suitable for use within potentially explosive dust and gas environ- ments, and the common ATEX switch & locking solutions that are typically suitable for these zones are often not approved to the applicable machinery safety standards, including EN ISO 13849-1. The updated range of ATEX safety switches & interlocks from machinery

safety expert Euchner help engineers and designers fulfil their need for all- purpose switches or interlocks that are suitable for use in safety-related control systems within potentially explosive or dust atmospheres. The range features electromechanical position switches and non-contact

coded type switches as well as transponder variants with electro-mechani- cal guard locking suitable for e.g. machinery with longer run-down times or where inert gas purges are required before allowing personnel access into an area. The Euchner ATEX CTP unit is suitable for use in Zones 2 & 22 (gases &

dusts) and features electromechanical guard locking, semiconductor out- puts and a range of actuators for many applications. The hinged actuators make it possible to use the locking solutions on very small radii doors. For applications where full body access is required Euchner also produce a vari- ant with a manual escape-release system built in. The transponder-coded actuators have unique coding. The actuators

must be taught-in by the integrated evaluation electronics. It is only possi- ble to switch the safety outputs by using the actuator already taught-in. As such, the Unicode principle provides a high level of protection against tam- pering or bypassing safeguards. To simplify on-machine wiring and reduce the need for multiple monitor-

ing devices or safety inputs the CTP units can be wired in series and still achieve a safety level of PLe, Category 4. A protective plate included protects the safety switch against impacts on the housing and the ingress of a potentially explosive atmosphere. The extremely sturdy, die-cast alloy

housing in conjunction with the high degree of protection IP67 permits use under extreme ambient conditions. Euchner
