SENSORS & INSTRUMENTATION EVENT PREVIEW

SENSORS SHOW IS BACK, AND BETTER THAN EVER

Continued growth and popularity means this year’s Sensors & Instrumentation show takes place in a bigger hall at the NEC, enabling it to pack in more feature areas and demo zones than ever before

S

ensors & Instrumentation, the UK’s only national sensors event, returns to

the NEC, Birmingham on 26 - 27th September 2017. This year, the show will take place in the larger and more accessible Hall 1, located right at the NEC’s main entrance. Over 80 market-leading suppliers will be at the show to demonstrate all the latest products and solutions in the test, measurement and control technology sectors, with exciting feature areas and informative seminars adding yet more value to the visitor experience. The CPD accredited seminar programme will be presented by exhibitors and prominent industry figures, and will address a range of contemporary issues and topics. For example, Sebastian Amos, sector head at Gambica, will present ‘A brief history and future of data instrumentation’, while the seminar presented by Dave Boylan, area sales manager at IST, is entitled ‘Build your own sensor’. Other features of the 2017 show include Connecting Industry LIVE, The Drone Zone Demo Area and PR Electronics’ Formula 1 Car Simulator. Connecting Industry LIVE will offer exhibitors the chance to showcase their products and solutions to a dedicated audience - live on stage - as part of this new and fully interactive feature area. Visitors will be able to learn how the products demonstrated could benefit their own manufacturing operations and applications. Making its premiere appearance in this feature area is Stanley Qubit - a NAO-25 humanoid robot made by Aldebaran Robotics. As seen on BBC1, Stanley Quibit is fully autonomous and can walk, talk, sing, dance and answer questions. Many industries can reap the benefits of using unmanned aerial vehicles, and Sensors & Instrumentation will take visitors to the heart of the action with the debut of the dedicated Drone Zone feature area. This Zone will explore the real life

applications that are possible through presentations from individuals and organisations selected for their expertise in drone technology and industrial

applications. Key issues will also be addressed such as the obstacles that will need to be overcome in order for this technology to be implemented. Visitors will also get the opportunity to

witness the agility of drones during technical flight demonstrations, and the chance to put themselves in the position of pilot through a virtual reality headset. Sensors & Instrumentation will also see the return of PR Electronics Formula 1 Car Simulator, with visitors invited to compete against colleagues and peers to see who can achieve the fastest lap. Also returning this year is the Innovation

showcase, where exhibitors can display their products and technologies to provide visitors with a snapshot of what they can expect to see as they explore the show. So what products, systems and services can visitors expect to see?

The Drone Zone will explore the industrial applications made possible using drone technology

Michell Instruments will be showcasing the latest additions to its humidity measurement and verification ranges on Stand E10. The new HygroSmart HS3 probe is designed to withstand the harsh and demanding conditions found in industrial processes. Unlike many ‘disposable’ probes that have a short life within harsh conditions before needing to be replaced, the HygroSmart HS3 sensor uses Michell’s polymer moisture sensing tile to give long-term reliable measurements. In addition, it also has an accuracy of 0.8%RH, which allows for longer recalibration periods. Michell will also demonstrate the HygroCal100 humidity verifier and its MDM300 portable hygrometer and oxygen analysers. Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG is a

manufacturer of thin- and thick-film platinum and nickel RTD temperature sensors, thermal mass flow sensors, capacitive humidity sensors, humidity modules, conductivity sensors and biosensors at the component level. The company offers standard and custom sensors and its stand (No. D9) will feature, amongst others, its thin-film capacitive relative humidity sensors. Additionally, IST AG will be displaying mass flow sensors for a variety of flow applications. Pressure Sensor will exhibit a number of new products including sensors with bluetooth connectivity; a range of low profile sensors for air compressors, water and waste applications, which are designed to hit strategic and aggressive price points for high volume applications; proximity sensors and level sensors. The company can be found on stand G11. And, if all this isn’t enough, the first 200

visitors on each day will be treated to a FREE breakfast courtesy of Keller! All you have to do is simply register online and head down to the show before 10am. This year's show is also co-located with four other market-leading industrial events; Interplas, Micro Nano Mems, PPMA Show 2017 and TCT Show. And the 'one ticket' policy means your Sensors & Instrumentation badge will allow you access to all the other shows taking place.
