ensata Technologies (NYSE:ST), an industrial technology company and a leading provider of sensors, today introduced the availability of MHM5 and MHK5 Absolute Multi-Turn encoders with either Ethernet/IP or ProfiNet interfaces for Factory 4.0 applications. To provide additional design flexibility, these encoders are available in either shafted (MHM5) or blind shaft (MHK5) configurations. These model MH encoders provide up to 16 bits per turn and 14 bits of turns counting. The compact packaging allows these encoders to be easily integrated into existing designs while a wide operating temperature range (-40 to +85C) and an IP65 rating makes them suitable for most any industrial application.

With a compression ratio of ≥ 2·107 for hydrogen, they are suitable for generating high and ultra high vacuum. Due to the high compression ratio, a low residual gas spectrum, which is desirable for certain mass spectrometry applications, is created in the chamber.

Having already embarked on a significant expansion of its existing mass-manufacturing production facility, the family-run business sought additional space.


“Specifically, we have been wanting


to offer our customers the capacity to produce larger components, such as electronic housings,” explains Operations Director Jo Davis. “In order to confidently take on these projects and handle everything in-house, we needed a larger plot and bigger plant equipment.”


Broanmain, which has been manufacturing and assembling injection moulded thermoplastic products for more than 50 years, acquired the new site in December. The company’s strategic wave of investment in the past 12 months is aimed at further increasing capacity.


The expansion adds a further eight injection moulding presses up to 500 tonnes to Broanmain’s existing machine line up, plus the resources to maintain and grow the site’s existing commercial and industrial customer base. Production manager Thomas Catinat is currently working with the new team to share best practice. Jo adds: “We are very excited by this investment. Because we already design and produce components for a number of clients in the construction, industrial and FMCG space, this Sussex acquisition complements our existing technical capabilities and reduces our reliance on subcontractors.”


Broanmain manages the tool design and moulds plastic components for a number of tier 1 to tier 4 suppliers in the automotive, aerospace, industry, medical and consumer markets. Many of these parts are used globally by blue chip organisations.

Fulton achieves CPD certification for its new VSRT training course

ulton is delighted to confirm that its VSRT Steam Boiler Operation & Maintenance course has been certified by the CPD Certification Service as conforming to the continuing professional development principles. The news follows the company’s announcement in late-2018 that it had achieved similar CPD Certification status, but for its Vertical (J Series) Steam Boiler Operation & Maintenance course.


Commenting for Fulton, aftercare and business development manager Jeff Byrne says: “You could be forgiven for thinking that achieving certified status for the VSRT course was easy as we had recently achieved similar for our vertical steam boiler course. However given the radical design of our double-award-winning VSRT steam boiler and the fact that it was only launched in early-2018, it took months of extra assessments to achieve. We are therefore delighted to have gained certification for the training course so quickly.”
