Cadence Debuts Industry’s First Analog IC Design-for-Reliability Solution

Full 3D in-Line X-Ray Inspection

T

he Nordson Matrix range of in-line X-Ray systems incorporates technologies for 2D, 2.5D and 3D inspection of boards and assemblies, at production line speeds. Using patented techniques, the systems can detect faults at different levels within the assembly and give the operator precise information on the fault and its location. X-Ray analysis is fast becoming an essential on every

production line to ensure the quality of hidden solder and components. Nordson Matrix are a world leader in both standard and custom In-Line X-Ray with specialist software and systems for most production applications.

The series includes:- X# series

X series

Flexible system for PCB and Assemblies Sealed ( maintenance free ) tube and flat panel detector

High speed inspection for PCB production

XS series Small footprint / High resolution Small PCB/ Hybris and semiconductor applications

adence introduced the Cadence® Legato™ Reliability Solution, the industry’s first software product that meets the challenges of designing high-reliability analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) for automotive, medical, industrial, and aerospace and defense applications. The Legato Reliability Solution provides analog designers with the tools they need to manage their design’s reliability throughout the product lifecycle, from initial test through active life through aging.

C

Based on the golden, trusted Cadence Spectre® Accelerated Parallel Simulator and the Cadence Virtuoso® custom IC design platform, the Legato Reliability Solution integrates capabilities into an intuitive cockpit to address the reliability concerns of the three phases of the product lifecycle:

Analog Defect Analysis Reduces Test Cost and Reduces Test Escapes

New 97mm blower fan delivers 50% higher static pressure and 15% more airflow

T

he new 9BMC 97mm by 33mm blower fan from Sanyo Denki

generates 50% higher static pressure and 15% higher airflow that the current 9BMB Series.

The 12V and 24V 9BMC fans provide a maximum 1950Pa static pressure with a maximum airflow of 111m3 /hour (65CFM) at a rated speed of 8200RPM giving best in class performance.

In a typical higher performance cooling systems these 9BMC fans provide 20% higher static pressure and 8% higher airflow that competitors’ fans. Alternatively, whilst running by at a P-Q point equivalent to competitors, they use 20% less power and the SPL is reduced by 3dB(A).

These dual ball bearing fans have PWM control and pulse sensors (tacho) and have been engineered to withstand demanding applications where the

fan’s operating temperature range of -20 to +70oC and the 70,000 hour life time at 40 oC (40,000 hour at 60 oC) ensures reliable long term operation.

This 9BMC blower fan is part of range of Sanyo Denki, San Ace brand DC blower fans which includes 52, 76, 97, 120, 127 and 160mm frames sizes.

Defect-oriented testing allows designers to evaluate the ability to eliminate die with manufacturing defects and resulting test escapes that cause field failures. It can also be used to optimize wafer test, reducing the number of tests required to achieve the target defect coverage by eliminating over-testing and potentially reducing the number of tests up to 30 percent. Customer experience with the tool indicates that it accelerates defect simulation by more than 100X.

Electro-Thermal Analysis Prevents Thermal Overstress

In this release, Cadence is introducing a dynamic electro-thermal simulation engine. For automotive designers, for example, actual usage results in significant temperature rise during normal operation due to on-chip losses and power dissipated in the switches. In addition, these components need to operate in hostile environments under the hood of an automobile.

Advanced Aging Analysis Predicts Product Wear-out

Cadence is the recognized leader in aging analysis, providing technologies like RelXpert and AgeMOS to analyze the device degradation due to electrical stress. In this release, Cadence is enhancing aging analysis to include the effects that accelerate device wear-out including temperature and process variation.
