TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL

New Keyed SMA fibre optic system from OMC O

MC, the pioneer in optoelectronics design & manufacture, has launched a new, Keyed SMA (KSMA) connector and

diode receptacle system for its wide range of fibre optic transmitters and receivers which offers the rotational consistency of a keyed connector alongside the security and reliability for which the SMA connector is renowned. The KSMA fibre optic connector system combines a new

ndurance series pyrometers from temperature measurement expert Fluke Process Instruments provide

high reliability and usability in demanding primary and secondary metals production applications. The rugged infrared thermometers take non-contact measurements and are used to control process stability, product quality, and fuel efficiency. Featuring a 1 µm, 1.6 µm, or 2.4 µm spectral response, the sensors achieve significantly higher accuracies than longer-wavelength sensors. The Endurance series covers measured temperatures from 50 °C to 3,200 °C with just a few models. Therefore, it takes fewer units to monitor entire processes. Models with one-color and two- color (ratio pyrometer) operating modes are available, the latter for measured temperatures as low as 250 °C. Ratio pyrometers ensure correct readings even in dust-saturated or steamed-up surroundings. The series is designed for comfortable operation. A

backlit rear-panel with tactile feedback allows for easy, intuitive on-site configuration and read-out. Furthermore, the sensors can be remotely operated. Profinet, RS-485, and Industrial Ethernet interfaces are available.

connector and diode housing design, which OMC describe as delivering the best of all worlds. Unlike the standard SMA connector, which can be inserted at any rotation about the ferrule axis, OMC’s KSMA system incorporates a mechanical keyway mechanism, thus eliminating rotational variation when a cable is mated to the transmitter or receiver. The connector continues to feature the secure hexagonal lock-nut fixing of OMC’s standard SMA connector, ensuring maximum long-term integrity of the connection.

PCB Test Exhibition & Seminar - ‘ElectroTestExpo 2018’ Date and Venue announced

T

he ‘ElectroTestExpo’ consortium is pleased to announce the latest in its series of regional PCB Test and Debug exhibitions. Now enjoying its eighth year of free-to-attend events, ElectroTestExpo will

commence its unique combination of drop-in tabletop exhibition and seminar on March 14th 2018 at one of the most picturesque event venues in the country – Towcester Racecourse, in the stunning Northamptonshire countryside. On show will be Test and Measurement instrumentation from across the spectrum; from oscilloscopes, RF generators and other bench tools to integrated production test systems based on advanced technologies that include PXI and JTAG/Boundary-scan. Exhibitors currently include TTi, Amfax, JTAG Technologies, YELO, Cobham Wireless, TestWorks, Elite Interfaces, MAC Panel, Cimbian, ASTER Technologies, Pico Technology and Pickering Interfaces.

New solutions for high-performance image processing by Solectrix at Embedded World 2018

A

t the Embedded World 2018 at Nuremberg the imaging experts of Solectrix will again be there to discuss high performance image processing challenges. At the exposition, the company this

year presents its own video and data capturing system SX-proFRAME and Solectrix SXoM modules, a new image data capturing system for lossless handling of CSI-2 data streams, from image sensors like Sony IMX290/IMX390 or ST, as well as MedTech and Robotics solutions for molecular diagnostics and general purposes. As many project managers had to

learn yet, the analysis of RAW-HDR data from a sophisticated ST image sensor or a Sony IMX290/IMX390 in DOL mode presents quite a challenge, due to the MIPI CSI-2 transmission protocol. Solectrix for its automotive HIL (Hardware- in-the loop) systems in the field has worked out a solution to still enable recording, processing, and exact 1:1 output of those complex data streams via FDP link III or GMSL without losses. Different highlight is an integrated, low-latency 3D Live System consisting of a 3D camera (by Solectrix) and a 3D

monitor (patented solution by SeeFront, Hamburg) to be used without 3D glasses. The ultra compact high-end image evaluation system can be used in advanced medical applications, robotics, or sophisticated monitoring systems. This new development is an integrated system allowing for the entire image processing chain to be handled in one electronic unit, i. e. eliminating the need for a separate processing unit. The tiny camera heads of the high-end 3D “sinaCAM“ camera system from Solectrix ensure optimal image quality. product catalog for modular video and data capturing solutions for the automotive sector (HIL and ADAS) and SOM modules. The focus is on two product families: SX proFRAME, the modular video and data capturing system, and the SXoM series of System-on-Module solutions. www.solectrix.de

Strength in standardized modification

T

he perfect power supply for your application is the one you don’t even have to think of. In power design

reliability, long-life and high efficiency are crucial. At the Embedded World 2018 show, EOS Power and its distribution partner MEV present EOS’ ultrasmall, narrow, cooling- flexible and up to 93 % efficient 40 to 550 W power supply series. All backed by its standardized and modification portfolio.

Clients putting their trust in EOS power supplies

receive robust, low EMC, heat management flexible, and “low cost of ownership” power solutions. Further advantages include inrush current limitation, “power good and AC fail“ signals and warranties up to 7 years for example. Standardized modifications is what EOS offers on a

regular basis. These include low noise, size minimized fans, flexible output voltages, flexible labelling to ensure high installation safety, as well as containing a redundant O-ring circuit. Additionally, assembly partners profit from enhanced base plates for quick mounting (slotted base holes etc.).
