uman Machine Interfaces (HMI) specialist EAO, has introduced a
new range of optical encoders that set a new benchmark for compactness and reliability. Manufactured by Grayhill Inc, the 62xG range of encoders feature a patented optical switching technology that delivers a 2 bit digital quadrature output. Capable of over 1 million switching cycles and featuring a rugged enclosed metal
body, metal shaft and optional central pushbutton, the new optical encoders are a more durable and more cost effective alternative to conventional mechanical encoders.
The Grayhill 62xG range of optical encoders comprises three cost competitive product types , each offering different features to match different application requirements.
62AG Series The 62AG Series products offers 16, 20, 24 or 32 pulses per revolution and the choice of pinned or flying lead connections in various standard lengths. Other options include high, low or no detent torque and a pushbutton.
62SG Series With a low 7.5mm back panel depth requirement Grayhill has designed the 62SG Series of optical encoders specifically for space critical applications. The devices are available with high, medium and low detent torque options.
62NG Series In addition to all the features of the 62AG Series 62NG Series encoders offer a non-turn pushbutton within the encoder shaft that ensures that any legend printed on the cap always remains upright when the encoder shaft is turned.
The new Grayhill 62xG range of optical encoders are part of an extensive encoder, joystick and rotary switch range supplied and supported by EAO Ltd.

5 Checklist Criteria when Qualifying your CEM W
hy does it often take OEMs catastrophic disappointment with an
existing contractor before they take action? Consider the following when qualifying your new CEM:
1. Procurement The ability to purchase at low cost, from reliable sources, with consistent component availability, is key to offering the service you need.
2. Quality Management Do they adhere to an appropriate quality management system (ISO9001, AS9100)? Do they work to recognised standards (IPC J- STD-001, IPC-A-610)?
3. Business Relations Communication is fundamental to a successful working relationship. Do they offer a personal account manager, responsible for managing the whole process?
4. Business Security Will you be in safe hands? Ask for a company history, or for testimonials from previous or existing customers.
5. Technical Capabilities: Design & Production Do they have in-house engineering expertise? Do they invest in equipment to stay at the leading-edge of the industry?
Corintech are industry-leading electronics manufacturing specialists, with an impressive track record in all 5 of these criteria. Visit Corintech at Southern Manufacturing to discover the benefits they could bring to your business.
