Two decades is a rarity for any exhibition and certainly an event

worthy of celebration. But 2018 marks an even more important milestone for this regular highlight in the engineering calendar. 2018 will see the UK’s oldest electronics show take up residency in its newest exhibition venue; the £30m Hall 1 development at Farnborough

International Exhibition & Conference Centre. In place of the huge temporary venue that has graced the Farnborough site for the last decade is a brand new, ultra-modern exhibition centre boasting world class facilities, easy access and free onsite parking for 3000 cars. Southern Manufacturing & Electronics will be the first maj

ajor event to be held in the centre,

which, given its location, promises to very quickly become one of the most important international showcases for UK engineering expertise.

Aside from the sparkling new premises, it’s very much business as usual for the UK’s most popular annual electronics show. Roughly half the 20,000m² venue is given over to electronics and the area is further loosely subdivided into areas for components, subcontracting,

production and test. The show in general is noted for the diversity of suppliers taking part, and one part icular aspect o f this is the growing popularity of the show with exhibitors from overseas. This year sees a record number of overseas companies taking part, ranging from component manufacturers, sub-

assemblies and contract services such as CEMS and PCB manufacture.

will be showing its new Mini-Snap self- securing circular connection, a circular connector in a robust metal housing offers great long-term quality, reliability and functionality. Yamaichi Electronics will show in the UK for the first time the recently launched expansion to its Y-Circ P push-pull connector, the IP68- compliant waterproof T-series. The T- series also features a one-piece collet for error-free installation and an optimised mechanism for reliable locking .

COMPONEN DIS RIBU ORS Some of the UK’s largest component distributors will be present for 2018, between them offering a vast range of products. Some of the names to look out for include Easby Electronics, G English Electronics, Midas Components, Variohm Eurosensor and Optimas Components. Also worthy of note is Transfer Multisort Elektronik, one of Europe’s largest distributors of electronic and

The show’s outstanding free technical seminar programme running over all three days of the show is another

compelling reason to attend. One of the two seminar theatres is wholly dedicated to electronics sessions, covering a wide range of technical topics, including lithium ion batterie s, CE Marking, 3 D Print and Industry 4.0, together with management-oriented themes such as Lean and how effectively market technical products. There is also a compelling look at the implications of the forthcoming GDPR regulations for manufacturers and the latest outlook for manufacturers post-Brexit. A full list of sessions and the all-important pre- registration form are available at http://seminars.industrysouth.co.uk Admission to the show is free Mor e information and tickets are available from www.industrysouth.co.uk.
