TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL New Reduced size Disciplined OCXO I

Could it be time to upgrade your LCD to OLED?

O

ur new range of character OLED display modules are designed to be 100% compatible with many of today’s

industry standard chip-on-board character LCD modules allowing for an easy upgrade to OLED and its superior technology. With an on-board driver compatible with the original Hitachi HD44780 the OLED module can be quickly and easily swapped into your application.

The range starts with an 8-character x 2-line module and includes four different 16 x 2 modules plus 16 x 4, 20 x 2, 20 x 4 and 40 x 2 modules all available in either white or yellow. Our OLED display modules offer a superior optical performance over STN/FSTN LCD due to their high brightness (100cd/m2), high contrast ratio (10,000:1) and a ultra-wide viewing angle of 180°. Plus with a superfast response time of 10 s and an extremely wide operating temperature of -40 ~ 80°C, OLED has a clear advantage over traditional LCD modules.

QD’s new IQCM-160 disciplined OCXO module is housed in a 30 x

25 x 14.6mm hermetically sealed through-hole metal package which covers approx. half the area of the current models. The IQCM-160 can achieve a holdover specification of 1.5 microseconds over a period of 8 hours when locked to a 1PPS (Pulse Per Second) input from an external GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU, GALILEO or alternative 1PPS source.

The design incorporates an internal adaptive algorithm which enables the module to ‘learn’ the parameters of the GPS signal after a period of 2 days of lock so that the holdover function can start in the event of signal failure. An internal alarm is built-in to indicate lock failure and subsequent restoration of signal. In addition, the unit incorporates a serial connection for more detailed interrogation of the device’s performance. Frequency is accurate to within 0.005ppb when locked to a 1PPS external signal and can compete with the performance of many atomic clock references.

The standard operating temperature range of the module is -40 to 85 degrees C. The required power supply is 3.3V with the output being standard HCMOS. Current consumption is only 750mA maximum during warm-up with this reducing to 350mA once the steady-state condition is reached.

The IQCM-160 has 1PPS and 10MHz output and also UART interfaces for software management, this has a fixed baud rate of 115200 using 1 stop bit and no parity.

Intended for a range of applications including land based telecommunications systems as well as marine based navigation systems the IQCM-160 forms part of a range of highly specified modules and Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillators (OCXOs) available from IQD.

Multi-channel transceiver from Radiometrix offers high vibration resistance

D

esigned to operate in environments with high levels of noise and vibration, the VX2M is a new NBFM 400MHz band transceiver from Radiometrix. Its sophisticated combination of circuit design techniques ensures the

device is highly robust, with excellent resistance to vibration. The VX2M meets the ETSI Category 1 high performance receiver specification, meaning that it can be used where

the operation of a short range device may have inherent safety of human life implications. Suitable applications include remote controls for industrial machinery or heavy vehicles, open cast mining, data

loggers and industrial telemetry, as well as specialist fields such as close quarter weapons engagement training. The VX2M retains all the pin functions of its TR2M parent, including noise operated squelch / carrier detect and

separate digital / analogue inputs and outputs. It also supports the same internal i1200 modem. Conforming to the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), the device has a high performance double superhet, 128

channel PLL synthesizer with TCXO. It offers 23 channels in the 458MHz band and 69 channels in the 433MHz band, and any 3MHz band module from 400MHz to 475MHz is available as a factory tuned custom variant.

iDUS Power, the technical power supply distributor specializing in innovative solutions and new products

that benefit system designers as they seek to differentiate their end products, has launched a new series of rugged, robust 450W AC/DC power supplies in the miniature 3” x 5" footprint. The use of high-performance components and a reinforced double I/O isolation system suit the supplies for both industrial and medical applications. With an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C

(with derating), the new supplies suit space-restricted, thermally-challenging industrial applications, and medical environments where audible fan noise must be avoided. Earth leakage current is below 100A which suits the units for BF (body floating) applications. As with most FiDUS power supplies, free engineering

samples can be delivered from stock on short lead-times, and all models are backed by the company’s 5-year warranty.
