The electronics distribution market gains ground halfway through 2025
Steady recovery:
DigiKey’s vice president of global business development, Mike Slater, offers a mid-year look at the electronics distribution market.
T
he electronics distribution market has been slowly bouncing back for several months now. While some may have expected more growth by this point in the year, I’m encouraged that some patience will pay off in dividends. We’re already seeing massive innovation and engineering activity, market growth as the year progresses. On the design side, we’ve had an extremely bright past quarter with new product introductions (NPIs) at DigiKey, adding over 32,000 stocking NPIs, 236,000 total new products and 127 new suppliers to our line card. With all these new options available to our customers, we are excited to see the continued design activity pick up in the second half of the year and translate into demand growth.

Coming trends and strategies Wireless connectivity, industrial automation architecture solutions and rapid prototyping are all key technology trends this year. The most talked-about trends recently are related to AI and data. Many companies are starting to scratch the surface and explore initiatives that have the potential to in the long term.
In Europe, we continue to see strong performance in automation and control,

automotive and transportation sectors. In the long term, we are very optimistic that the electronics business and industry will continue to expand into areas we have not seen before.
Business goals for the remainder of the year
For the rest of 2025, we plan to build upon our strong digital strategy and superior operational excellence, which will enable us to deliver value to our existing customers while continuing to expand in new markets and geographies.
With those strategies in place, we anticipate continuing to grow our revenue and customer base, expanding the markets we serve, and becoming increasingly scalable.
European customers and future customers, and we look forward to exceeding their expectations in 2025 and beyond.
