ready-to-connect belt axis meets hygienic standards

igus is launching a ready-to-connect belt axis, designed to meet hygienic standards for the food industry. The drylin ZLW belt axis uses FDA-compliant materials and features igus’s lubricant- and maintenance-free high performance tribo plastics. The trusses and linear slides are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel; and the gliders on which the carriage moves over the rail are made of food-grade tribopolymer iglidur A160, which enables low-friction dry running. Large bakeries are faced with the challenge of

regularly cleaning huge vats and mixers, including the moving parts – the linear axes and linear slides on which the mixers are lowered into the containers. If classical linear axes are used here, there is a high risk that dough residues will be deposited in hard-to- reach places. So, the new model can be cleaned quickly and thoroughly, whether using high pressure steam jets with chemicals or simply running water. Of additional benefit, undercuts and gaps in which

food residues could be deposited are minimised. These also have rounded corners that ensure better water flow during high pressure cleaning, and enable dirt particles to be removed more easily. The drylin ZLW belt axis is durable, demonstrated

by the c. 1.5 million double strokes at a speed of 0.5m/s and an acceleration of 2m/s2

with a load of

three kilograms, measured at igus’s in-house test laboratory. The drylin ZLW belt axis can now be ordered in a maximum displacement of up to 3m and can be equipped with a suitable stepper motor.

COMPaCT CIRCULaR CONNECTORS FOR INDUSTRIaL aUTOMaTION aPPLICaTIONS

A complete series of circular connectors manufactured by CONEC Elektronische Bauelemente, part of the Amphenol Group, are now available from RS Components. Featuring 0.8mm diameter contact

pins, the compact CONEC range of M8x1 D-coded circular connectors are fully optimised for industrial automation applications. These present engineers with all the attributes necessary to meet the ISO11801 Class D standard for up to 100Mbit/s (Fast Ethernet) signal transmissions.

LINEaR POSITION FEEDBaCk SENSORS

A new range of compact and space-efficient linear position feedback sensors aimed at challenging environments such as marine, wash-down, harsh industrial, and mobile machinery, have been introduced by Positek. Featuring non-contacting PIPS (Positek

Inductive Position Sensor) technology, the new S119 features a choice of industry standard output options calibrated to a user-specified travel range up to 350mm. With a typical independent linearity of ≤ ±0.25% FSO at 20°C, the fully submersible push rod style sensor includes IP68-10 bar/IP69K environmental protection in a robust 19mm diameter 316 stainless steel housing with a wide choice of mounting options.

hot-swap and blind mating power connectors

Available from Lane Electronics, the Positronic GFSH Goldfish hot-swap and blind mating power connectors offers hot-swap capability (mating and un-mating while powered up) with secure blind mating, allowing for up to 2mm misalignment. These features, along with the compact form and combination layouts, makes the Goldfish range suited to the latest compact, high-reliability power delivery and control systems. Users may specify combinations of 20A, 30A,

35A and 50A solid machined contacts in a mixed density package. Multiple contact sizes allow the mixing of AC/DC input, signal, and DC distributed output in a single compact connector. Goldfish connectors offer six contact options with touch-safe recessed female contacts and large surface area (LSA) contacts, combining energy saving with low contact resistance. The precision copper alloy gold plated contacts are rated at 500 mating cycles. The larger GG series of connectors provides a similar modular approach of multiple contact

sizes in one connector and introduces larger contact sizes up to 200A and 1000 mating cycles. Options across both GFSH and GG ranges include sequential mating, solder PCB mount,

crimp, press-fit and bus-bar terminations and a choice of panel mount, float mount or jackscrew fixing and a wide variety of cable clamp hood accessories.

Electrical characteristics include working voltages of 50V AC and 60V DC and a current rating of up to 4A at 40°C. Additionally, all the devices are protected against water ingress, rated to IP67. According to the company, these

are suitable for a range of Ethernet- based communication applications including

industrial interfaces, and control and regulation units, as well as sensor, camera and robotics-based applications.

electro-mechanical actuator for

demanding applications

New from Ewellix is a smart electro-mechanical actuator with extended functionality, for use in demanding applications such as agricultural and construction machinery. The CAHB-2xS offers four new or enhanced features – in control, accurate position sensors, built-in monitoring/ diagnostics, and communication. It also offers a typical MTTF of 75 years. Patented non-contact sensors, that never

require calibration, provide a true absolute position of movement, while motion is constantly monitored with the option to synchronise multiple actuators to offer parallel motion, even at full speed. In addition, the CAHB-2xS monitors its own condition and can transmit an error code if it operates outside specifications. The actuator can be connected to a simple

switch or a relatively inexpensive electronic control unit without the need for a high-current controller. When the equipment CAN bus is used, then the actuator wiring can also be simplified. In addition, multiple actuators with parallel motion can be controlled without the need for an extra electronic box or CAN bus on the equipment. Machine developers can also design new

products – or perform upgrades – more easily and quickly using the new actuator, with its plug-and-play functionality. With the new SmartX digital platform

associated with the most powerful actuator of the CAHB-2xS series, the CAHB-22S, equipped with a ballscrew, is capable of delivering a push and pull load of up to 10,000N.
