PRODUCTS MOTION CONTROL SERVO SOLUTIONS FOR COMPACT MACHINES

Nidec Drives has upgraded its servo solutions, delivering full packages for Heidenhain’s next generation EnDat 3 encoders. These comprise of Digitax HD and Unidrive M700 drives, Unimotor hd motors and a selection of standard cut-to-length cables and pre-made connectors. Suitable for more compact machines, Nidec Drives’ solutions with EnDat 3 encoders brings smarter and faster systems, with key benefits including: • Single cable 2-wire technology for simplified cabling • Smaller panel sizes and faster commissioning • Enhanced diagnostics such as real-time monitoring of vibration,

temperature and encoder health for predictive maintenance. EnDat servo solutions work out of the box with electronic nameplate

data ensuring all components are properly matched. Furthermore, each Unimotor hd EnDat encoder is pre-programmed for instant recognition; and system optimisation is made simple with the latest Connect V3 commissioning software. After its recent significant update, Connect has been reimagined

with servo systems at the core of its redevelopment, the company explains. Now it is described as super-intuitive, and is also loaded with features to make optimisation simple, including: • Auto-discovery via Ethernet, Serial, Bluetooth, or EtherCAT • Real time tuning with integrated scope and motion tools • Visual I/O configuration and dynamic logic diagrams • Seamless PLC integration and self-diagnostics. Oscar Arienti, sales manager Automation Division,

HEIDENHAIN ITALY, commented: “Through the integration of EnDat and Nidec Drives, evolution turns into synergy. The advancement of our EnDat encoder platform, combined with Nidec’s servo drive technology, expands the product

portfolio, enhances application versatility, reduces commissioning times, and ensures high precision and operational reliability.”

VALVES FEATURE IO-LINK CLASS B INTERFACE FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE MOTION CONTROL

New from Parker Hannifin is the latest generation of its DFplus valves with an IO-Link Class B interface, expanding the existing IO-Link Class A offering. This combines power supply and data communication in a single M12 connector, enabling high dynamic performance, comprehensive diagnostics, and simplified wiring for demanding hydraulic applications. The IO-Link interface allows users to adjust valve parameters and read out status data

during operation. Thanks to galvanic isolation between the operating voltage supply and the IO-Link voltage supply, access to the valve electronics parameters is possible even when the operating voltage is switched off, supporting efficient setup and service routines. IO-Link Class B is an IO-Link port type that, in addition to the standard IO-Link

communication lines, provides an extra galvanically separated power supply for the power stage. With IO-Link Class B, the complex and costly 6+PE or 11+PE connections are eliminated and replaced by standardised, pre-assembled M12 cabling. By switching to a pre-assembled M12 connection, the risk of malfunctions is significantly reduced. In the DFplus IO-Link Class B version, both the data connection and the power supply

are combined in a single 5-pin M12 connector. This configuration allows the valve to be supplied with currents of up to four amperes, ensuring that the well-known dynamic performance of the DFplus valve family is fully maintained. To achieve this performance, the use of suitable IO-Link masters and M12 cables is required. Through this single M12 interface, the supply voltage, the digital transmission of the setpoint, digital feedback, and enable/disable functions are all handled via IO-Link, significantly reducing wiring complexity and installation effort. Furthermore, DFplus valves with IO-Link Class B offer extensive

diagnostic and service functions; and they can be used as shut-off elements up to Category 3, PL d in accordance with EN 13849-1. Safety over IO-Link is achievable due to the galvanic isolation between the power section and the control electronics when used with suitable IO-Link masters, providing both functional safety and high operational reliability in modern hydraulic systems.

ATEX AND IECEx SERVO MOTORS FOR USE IN

HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS

Designed for hazardous locations including ATEX and IECEx certifications for Zones 2 and 22, the new Kollmorgen AKME Series servo motors are now available in the UK from INMOCO. These, the company explains, deliver high torque density, responsiveness and precision for applications that may be exposed to ignitable gases or dusts, and are available in a wide range of voltage ratings and feedback options. ATEX is the EU standard for equipment used in

explosive atmospheres, while IECEx is the global standard, and both certifications use the same Zone classifications. Introducing Zone 2 and Zone 22 servo motors enables end users and OEMs to meet key requirements for hazardous locations without specifying more costly Zone 1 and Zone 0 servo motors when their increased protection may not be necessary. The AKME Series servo motor is designed to

prevent sparks, hot surfaces, or failures that could ignite gas. It can operate in environments where combustible dust may be occasionally present, and will prevent dust ignition, including via enclosure or surface temperature limits. Designed for continuous torque applications, the

AKME servo motors can generate between 0.37 Nm to 50.4 Nm, operating at speeds up to 5,000 rpm. The motors are available in IEC frame sizes two to seven, spanning 54 mm to 188 mm, and can be powered by voltages including 48 and 75 Vdc, and 120, 240 or 400 Vac. They also support a wide range of feedback

options with single- and dual-connector devices, including resolver, SFD-M, ComCoder, EnDat, Hiperface and BiSS B options. In control, the motors are ideally matched with Kollmorgen’s AKD, AKD2G, or Kollmorgen Essentials servo drives, and this combination operates with standard Kollmorgen servo motor cables that extend between 1m and 25m in length. The AKME servo motors can be used in

applications across pharmaceutical production, food processing, grain elevators, industrial paint booths, and other settings where combustible gases or dusts may be encountered. Of father benefit, they meet IP64 protection, meaning they are dust-tight and prevent moisture ingress.
