NEw wORkFlOw SOFTwARE OPTIMISES DATA FOR EFFICIENT 3D PRINTING


A new version of Mimaki Europe’s workflow management software for 3D printers has been launched. ‘Mimaki 3D Print Prep Pro v2.0’ (3DP3v2) automatically optimises 3D data for 3D printing, with new capabilities including lattice patterns and extensive data conversion. 3DP3, launched in 2021, overcomes data preparation challenges within the 3D


printing process, lowers the barrier to adoption by bypassing the need for specialised knowledge, and minimises the time needed for users to oversee and process 3D print files. 3DP3v2 adds new advancements to expand possible 3D applications across medical, architectural and design markets, and beyond. The new 3DP3v2 is equipped with a lattice structure conversion function, which


allows users to create a lattice structure for 3D-printed objects. With four lattice patterns and adjustable density settings, this can help reduce the weight of the printed object and create a cushioning or softening effect, depending on the material used. The updated software also has more extensive data conversion, now expanding to


topographic and architectural measurement data collected by drones. The advancement extends to CT (cross-sectional) scan data, a commonly time-consuming task which usually requires multiple software programmes to convert it into a 3D printable file. With 3DPv2, it can be completed within a single software, making it simpler to produce detailed and faithful 3D models for medical or artifact replica purposes. The software will be available in June 2026.

Autentica has partnered with NCC (part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult) to validate a secure digital thread platform for additive manufacturing. The system is designed to help UK manufacturers overcome a key obstacle to adopting additive manufacturing by enabling secure management and traceability of digital production data. One of the biggest barriers to wider


adoption of additive manufacturing is the secure handling of design files, machine instructions, and


production data across decentralised manufacturing environments. The Innovate UK-supported project is part of the feasibility study exploring how secure digital infrastructure could support wider adoption of additive manufacturing among UK SMEs. The platform aims to develop a secure workflow that links design files, machine instructions, and production records, giving SMEs a robust tool to confidently adopt additive manufacturing across distributed supply chains by protecting their intellectual property and enabling secure collaboration. these issues through encrypted file streaming, tamper-proof audit trails and secure handling of design assets during production, helping safeguard intellectual property and optimise distributed manufacturing.

Mitchell Barnes, who founded RYSE 3D in 2017, has won two King’s Award for Enterprise. Barnes now supplies high performance production parts to 23 of the world’s hypercar projects, and delivers complex components through contracts in aerospace, defence and energy. These orders have taken the Shipston-on-Stour


firm to nearly £5m in annual turnover, with nearly half of that emanating from international orders to the US, Denmark and Latvia. Global success has led to the business securing
