With the new MHL340 G and MHL350 G material handlers from FUCHS, the hydraulics, electrics, lubrication, heating and air conditioning had to be safely routed from the main machine to the cab, even when in motion. New from KENDRION is Slim PM, a compact permanent magnet brake for servo motors with low to medium torques. This, the company explains, has been designed as a cost-effective


solution for high-volume applications, such as in automation technology, robotics, conveyor technology, and tooling and packaging machines. KENDRION has redesigned the brake’s magnetic circuit


from the ground up, resulting in a design that simplifies the overall system and reduces complexity in both material usage and the manufacturing process. In addition, the Slim PM is designed for an extended temperature range and uses the same motor interface as the company’s proven high-torque permanent magnet brake. “We wanted to develop a permanent magnet brake that


could be seamlessly integrated into existing structures,” explains Waldemar Schaermann, product manager at KENDRION. “The Slim PM is therefore not intended as a standalone solution, but as a complement to our High Torque Line. Two brakes, one system, that’s our approach.”

steering joysticks: the ergonomic choice


According to an ergonomics study completed in early 2026 by Furtwangen University in collaboration with HMI specialist RAFI, using a joystick to steer agricultural machinery can significantly reduce physical strain. The study compared the strain levels of steering wheel and joystick steering using


objective measurements of muscle activity via electromyography, as well as subjective evaluations by 21 participants from the agricultural sector. The results were clear: a steering joystick positioned to the left of the driver’s seat allows mobile machinery to be operated with significantly less effort and fatigue than a steering wheel. Short precise hand movements with the forearm resting comfortably on the armrest eliminate strenuous steering actions and frequent wheel turning, which place considerable strain on the shoulders and neck. Only the forearm muscles exhibit slightly higher activity with the joystick. In the categories


‘physical demands’ and ‘effort’, the steering wheel was rated as significantly more strenuous. Furthermore, the joystick achieved higher satisfaction ratings, indicating strong usability and intuitive operation. The combination of significantly reduced physical workload and high user satisfaction therefore makes joystick steering a promising alternative for the future of agricultural technology. display (LCD) technology known for superior colour accuracy and wide viewing angles. IPS liquid crystals rotate parallel to the display surface to improve light transmission. The main features of the display include
