REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR THIS SUMMER’S BIG BANG FAIR

Registration is now open for the UK’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people – the Big Bang Fair. The annual Fair, which is run by EngineeringUK, is designed to ignite a

passion for STEM and showcase the exciting career possibilities in these sectors. The event is taking place from 17 to 19 June 2025 at the NEC in Birmingham. Over 20,000 young people aged 10-13 years-old attended The Big Bang Fair last year. At the Fair, a diverse range of employers will come together to bring engineering, science and technology careers to life, giving young people the opportunity to meet STEM professionals and inspiring career panels. They can discover amazing science and engineering shows, workshops and hands- on activities. From coming face to face with snakes, lizards and tarantulas and learning about how animals have influenced humans, to coding and flying drones, there are many exhibits to help young people find innovative, creative solutions to real world problems. Research shows 80% of young people who attended The Big Bang Fair wanted to go on to do more STEM activities.

BOOSTING COLLABORATION BETWEEN DESIGN AND PRODUCTION

PTC has launched CAM Studio Beta. This integrates CAD, Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and Product Data Management (PDM) to give design and manufacturing teams the opportunity to plan, simulate and collaborate on machining processes. According to

the company, this release offers a complete design- to-manufacturing solution, enhancing productivity and creating new opportunities for leading manufacturing brands across the globe. “With the release of CAM Studio directly into Onshape’s cloud-native

platform, users gain built-in version control and centralised storage for their manufacturing strategies,” commented David Katzman, general manager of Onshape and Arena at PTC. “This ensures seamless collaboration, eliminates the risks of file-based

workflows, and provides unmatched traceability throughout the design-to- manufacturing process. CAM Studio reinforces our commitment to empowering teams with tools that enhance productivity and drive innovation.” CAM Studio supports 2.5 and basic 3-axis machining, with the most

common manufacturing strategies and machines. For users with advanced manufacturing needs, CAM Studio Advanced will offer enhanced capabilities, including advanced 3, 4 and 5-axis machining strategies.
