Kemtron, the British manufacturer of RFI/EMI shielding gaskets, materials and components, introduces a flame retardant, low smoke, low toxicity EMC shielding gasket. This has been tested and approved to the international standard UL94V-0 by Underwriters Laboratories for flame retardancy, file number E344902.
The material is a nickel coated graphite loaded into silicone
elastomers, product code SNG-FR. The gasket provides a highly
electrically conductive path between mating flanges of an electronics equipment enclosure, giving a high level of RFI/EMI shielding. Nickel coated graphite in silicone is the most cost effective of all the electrically conductive silicone elastomers and its performance in many applications will exceed that of silver based products due to its more aggressive surface finish providing a very low surface contact resistance.
The material can be supplied as an extruded cord, tube or strip in various profiles, custom mouldings, ‘O’ rings or flat die cut gaskets. Electrically conductive pressure sensitive adhesive can be applied to flat gaskets to aid assembly. Kemtron also offers silver coated aluminium and silver coated copper, silver coated glass, pure nickel and nickel coated aluminium fillers.

To give specifiers even more choice, Hammond has added a further eight sizes to its popular IP68 sealed 1555F flanged family, designed for use in harsh industrial environments or outdoor applications. There are now 23 sizes in the range, all moulded in RAL 7035 grey polycarbonate or ABS. The integral flanges moulded into the cover enable the enclosures to be secured directly to a surface and they also provide additional security by preventing direct access to the lid securing screws. There are four new plan sizes, all available in two heights; the polycarbonate versions are UV stabilized for outdoor use. Recesses are moulded into the cover for mounting membrane keyboards
both the cover and the base; the cover is secured with self-captivated M4 stainless steel machine screws threaded into integral corrosion-resistant bushings for repetitive assembly and
disassembly. DIN rail mountings are provided in the majority of sizes and optional galvanised steel inner panels are available for all sizes. The one-piece sealing gasket is made from a high temperature silicone and is UL listed.
