HILLHEAD 2018 TO TAKE PLACE IN JUNE
Working demonstration areas featuring excavators, crushing machinery and rock processing equipment are a big attraction for those visiting the Hillhead exhibition. This year, the event takes place at the Hillhead Quarry near Buxton, Derbyshire, on 26-28 June. The biennial exhibition was established in 1982 and, during the last show, 476 exhibitors took part with 18,601 visitors attending. However, a double expansion to
the Registration Pavilion and developments
to the outdoor site mean even more exhibitors can now take part. Among those exhibiting at the event are providers of components and equipment such as: springs & shock absorbers; power transmission equipment; hydraulic/pneumatic components; fasteners; bearings; drive technology, and much more. As an example, SKF (a regular Hillhead exhibitor) will be focusing on
‘improving productivity by increasing the availability of machinery’. Its stand will feature such products as its sealed Explorer spherical roller bearings which are designed to operate in extremely dusty and mechanically arduous conditions. The upgraded bearings are ideally suited to quarrying operations, which are subject to high levels of mechanical vibration and shock, particulate contamination and/or poor lubrication regimes. Visitors to the stand will also experience the Three-Barrier Solution.
This incorporates a standard SNL housing, a sealed SKF Explorer spherical roller bearing, labyrinth S-seals (or SKF Taconite Seals for ultimate protection) and SKF Biodegradable Bearing Grease LGGB 2 in the housing which acts as a contamination barrier. This housed bearing unit is said to deliver consistently high performance over the longer term in challenging contaminated environments. The company will also be displaying solutions such as examples from the SKF Cooper split bearings range, and will be exhibiting two new condition monitoring solutions. Elobau, meanwhile, will be demonstrating products from its operator
controls, sensors and level measurement ranges of products for the construction and off-highway vehicle sectors. Also on display will be the new MA225 midi modular armrest which allows manufacturers of mobile machinery to configure an armrest for the respective operating concept with only the desired functions. The modular system comprises five modules, each with numerous variants. It includes the joystick and hand throttle module, operating unit, armrest and storage compartment module, hitchwheel and potentiometer, as well as the connector panel module. For vehicle manufacturers, the modular armrest is a plug-and-play device. From January this year, manufacturers of agricultural machinery are bound by EU Regulation 167/2013. This so-called ‘Mother Regulation’ governs the provisions for the approval process and type tests for all of Europe. The MA225 midi modular armrest was designed in accordance with this regulation, and also Agricultural Performance Level (AgPL) in accordance with standard ISO 25119. Other exhibitors this year will include ABB; ACE Fabreeka UK; Advanced

tracked and skid-mounted crushers and screens, scalping grids and stockpiling conveyors; and the Recycling area will feature crushing, shredding, screening and washing equipment.
