A FLEXIBLE AND ECONOMICAL POWER SUPPLY SOLUTION FOR MANUFACTURERS OF MACHINERY AND CONTROL CABINETS

Demands on the power supply market are steadily increasing, so maximum efficiency and constant performance even at high temperatures are essential. Diagnostic and communication facilities are also increasingly in demand as the components are integrated into higher-level networks and become part of Industry 4.0 applications. At the same time, ‘classic’ applications still exist in which a power supply solution that operates reliably, flexibly and economically is needed. To meet all these demands, Murrelektronik has introduced the

Eco-Rail-2 power supply units which, it explains, offers manufacturers of machinery and control cabinets the possibility to supply power to their consumers flexibly and economically. Five devices are available in the series, with current ratings from 1.3

to 20A, while the output voltage of the devices can be set from 23 to 28V. Connecting two power supply units in series allows the output voltage to be increased to 48V.

The products have an operating temperature range of between 0 and 55˚C, and can be easily mounted on

the DIN rail without any tools. The screw terminals are attached to the front of the unit to facilitate quick and easy cable connection. Furthermore, the ‘hold-up time’ of the Eco-Rail-2 series switch-mode power supplies is up to 130ms, helping to bridge voltage drops at the input side.

LINEAR STAGES With Aerotech’s ECO-LM and ECO-SL series linear stages, a comprehensive choice of direct-drive linear motor, rotary servomotor or stepping motor versions is available across 44 models. The ECO-LM series direct-drive

linear motor stages have high precision, non-contact, linear encoders which enable minimum incremental motion to 10nm with micrometer-level repeatability. The optional HALAR factory calibration improves positioning accuracy to ±1.5µm. In addition, the ironless forcer coil provides high force with zero cogging for smooth velocity and position control. ROBUST MINI CONNECTORS

Bulgin has extended its Buccaneer 4000 series of miniature circular power connectors with two-, four-, six- and 10-pole configurations. Offering high power density and reduced weight in a compact size, the series is capable of carrying a variety of voltages and currents throughout modern systems. Able to withstand vibrations, shocks and corrosion to EN/IEC 60068 requirements and salt spray for marine applications, the connectors can also be submerged in water and withstand powerful jet sprays/high pressure washing to IP69K standards when mated.

REDUCING COMPLEXITY IN ENCLOSURES

Rittal has introduced a new range that has helped to reduce complexity in enclosure systems thanks to the development of a consistent 25mm pitch pattern and full symmetry. Because the new frame section in the 25mm grid is now also used in the horizontal part of the frame, the enclosure can be expanded much more flexibly, even beyond its limits, the company explains. Installation components for the

vertical frame parts now fit into the roof section and base area. When the enclosures are bayed, the 25mm pitch pattern then continues through into the adjacent enclosures. This means rails can be mounted over multiple enclosures. These and other baying options can

now be installed with a 40% reduction in the range of punched sections, with or without mounting flanges. Additionally, the new frame section with its 20mm installation depth provides more space in the enclosure. Of further benefit, the reduction in complexity means assembly and disassembly of the doors can be carried out by one person. The door is simply hung on a hinge which ensures it is automatically secured when closed. In addition, all common variants will be available for use in the locking system.

BENCHTOP PROGRAMMABLE DC POWER SUPPLIES

has zero backlash and friction, no windup and excellent dynamic responsiveness. These are available in 17 different models with travels ranging from 100 to 800mm and speeds up to 2m/s. For even more cost-sensitive

applications, the ECO-SL series includes several NEMA 23 stepper motor and brushless servomotor options. With these, several encoder options provide electrical resolutions ranging from 0.5µm down to sub-nm. The 27 models offer travels ranging from 50 to 800mm and speeds up to 300mm/s.

Now available from Telonic Instruments is the Kikusui PWR-01 series of benchtop programmable DC power supplies. There are 12 instruments available with models offering 400W, 800W and 1200W rated power output, and maximum rated voltages up to 650V. These have a four-times voltage and current

variable ratio and feature variable internal impedance which allows for various types of simulations – making them suitable for automotive test and other battery-driven applications as well as solar-panel evaluation. In addition, they can be used as an alternative power source to

batteries, for agility testing of engine control units (ECUs), on-board electronic components or for driving power sources for sensors. Using Wavy sequence creation software,

engineers can create simple simulations such as actuator or sensor operations, and rise/fall of power supplies in multiple channels, making the PWR-01 an ideal choice for automotive developers creating advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). Additional features include a soft-start function, a programmable internal memory and synchronised operation. LAN (LXI), USB, and RS-232 interfaces are included as a standard.
