ADVERTORIAL SOUTHERN MANUFACTURING SHOW PREVIEW
Full 3D in-Line X-Ray Inspection
T
he Nordson Matrix range of in-line X-Ray systems incorporates technologies for 2D, 2.5D and 3D inspection of boards and assemblies, at production line speeds. Using patented techniques, the systems can detect faults at different levels within the assembly and give the operator precise information on the fault and its location. X-Ray analysis is fast becoming an essential on every
production line to ensure the quality of hidden solder and components. Nordson Matrix are a world leader in both standard and custom In-Line X-Ray with specialist software and systems for most production applications.
The series includes:-
X# series - Flexible system for PCB and Assemblies Sealed ( maintenance free ) tube and flat panel detector X series - High speed inspection for PCB production
XS series - Small footprint / High resolution Small PCB/ Hybris and semiconductor applications

Manufacturing Trends For 2018 “The next wave of leaders in industrial
manufacturing will build an ecosystem that capitalises on the promise of analytics and connectivity to maximize efficiency for themselves and their customers. They will map out their strategies and prioritize measures that will bring the most value to their business and will get closer to their customers’ needs, creating suites of service packages that go far beyond the initial machine sale, and expanding opportunities as they create new partnerships outside their core specialty areas. They can succeed if they move forward in smart, deliberate strides.” Over 2017, various lead surveys have shown 92% of
manufacturers say product quality defines their success in the eyes of their customers. 56% of manufacturers find their customers most frequently demand short notice production capabilities as a value-added service. 50% define their success by their ability to meet on-

combined with the right expertise and capabilities in interpreting operational data, the introduction of robotics for repetitive and manual tasks allowed our production teams to focus on more valuable cognitive tasks to deliver quality and compliance and reduce global supply chain risk through better supplier collaboration. This combined with further investments in technologies and processes such as CT Scans and clean controlled environments structures, allowed M- TEK to go through the required transformation to challenge OEE and established traditional metrics of manufacturing performance.

profits with an increase in turnover of 12% and pre-tax profits rising by 20%, the spring manufacturer also exceeded their largest month’s sales and continued to beat forecast. A further two CNC Power Presses
have been ordered to deal with increasing demand. This will increase their press facilities to a total of nine machines. Their new IT system is now fully
operational, allowing them to keep track of all customer orders and stock levels. The information is updated automatically and displayed throughout the factory ensuring ‘real-time’ information can be accessed by multiple channels and on various devices. A new CNC milling machine has also been delivered to expand the busy tool room, the new machine will enable Southern Springs to process blocks for progression tools in a more efficient time scale and help to reduce tooling lead times. Tim Page, Managing Director said
“the new machinery and IT system are part of our plans to continually develop Southern Springs and Pressings”.

safety sensor at Southern T
he SRF (Safety RFID) is a non-
contact safety sensor, that monitors moveable safety guards, such as doors, flaps and hoods.
With its innovative diagnostic system, the SRF makes safety circuits suitable for Industry 4.0. The system
provides a multitude of diagnostic data of each sensor, even in a series connection, to support smart production. Diagnostic data will deliver cost-effective predictive maintenance in a simple way, through its advanced fault recognition capability, costly machine shutdowns can be prevented. This way, your machinery and plant will work even more
efficiently! We will also be showcasing products including the
flexible and economical IN65, the slimline I49 and the new MRK6 magnetic safety switch. These products among many others in our well-established range of switches, sensors, and enclosures, as well as its examples of our custom services.
