SHOW PREVIEW SOUTHERN MANUFACTURING

The Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Exhibition takes place on 6-8 February at FIVE in Farnborough, and Hitaltech will be at Stand G85. Taking pride of place on

HITALTECH RETURNS TO THE SOUTHERN MANUFACTURING AND ELECTRONICS EXHIBITION Also on display at Stand G85 will be

this year’s Hitaltech stand will be its latest prototype, a BAC-box designed specifically for the building automation controls market, which fits over the standard UK double-gang back box. In addition to the prototype, the company will be exhibiting other recent additions to its enclosure range including the 1MXTS Modulbox, as well as a range of DIN enclosures to house embedded platforms such as the Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone and Arduino.

Hitaltech’s flat, vibration and stress resistant flexible cables; the latest additions to the Conex-it range of PCB mounting terminal blocks and connectors; and a range of flexible SMD jumpers for automotive, industrial control, building automation and energy metering applications. Finally, Hitaltech will be

featuring its range of products developed specifically for the home automation sector. As

climate/lighting control screens become an ever more common feature of the smart home, Hitaltech will be exhibiting the lower profile terminal blocks and sleek enclosures that make discreet wall mounting possible. hitaltech.co.uk

ELESA AT SOUTHERN MANUFACTURING EXHIBITION

The extensive Elesa range of standard machine elements is designed around the needs of manufacturing in all industry sectors, much of which will be on display at the 2018 Southern Manufacturing Exhibition. Featured on the Elesa stand (no. H260) will be their

IP65-7 direct dial digital position indicators, with electronic mechanism for easy set up and readout. These are coupled with the Elesa wireless spindle positioning system, which enables faster and more reliable machine set up by use of a wireless connected profile controller that displays the initial set up values on each of up to 36 electronic position indicators. The operator can simply choose the appropriate menu then quickly re-set each spindle to its correct start position and the machine is ‘good to go’. This saves time and takes out much of the possibility of human error. The IP67 CFSW safety switch and hinge unit also on display facilitates safe operation of

access panels and control equipment. A wide range of levelling feet complement the needs of equipment manufacturers, many in stainless steel for heavy duty application, and special designs with vibration damping pads to prolong equipment life, or for use in bio-hazard areas such as food processing and other hygiene sensitive areas. The Elesa LMHD hygienic levelling feet with mounting holes provide rugged adjustable

equipment mounting and facilitate reduced cleaning work, which can be up to 25 per cent of the production time. This leaves more time available for production, with less use of resources such as fresh water, energy and cleaning agents, and with lower total costs. Elesa

CONVERT SHOWCASES CAPABILITIES AT SOUTHERN MANUFACTURING SHOW

Convert is showcasing its capabilities at the Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show 2018. The show will be Convert’s first exhibition event of 2018. It follows an extremely successful year, in which the Kent-based electrical engineering company worked on a range of innovative projects. This includes designing a 250m loom for the first UK trials of an autonomous grocery delivery vehicle; a miniature grommet to house the wiring for a lamp unit on a luxury British sports car and winning a prestigious Bright Sparks award. Convert specialises in the automotive, public

transport and scientific/medical sectors, manufacturing cable harnesses for car head and rear lights, passenger gates at railway stations and a range of scientific equipment. With its highly trained staff and continual investment in state-of-the-art equipment, including Komax Gamma 255 fully automatic crimping machine, and Artos MTX-5 crimping machine, Convert’s complex cable looms and harnesses are manufactured to the highest quality, delivered on time and at competitive prices. Dave Lord, Convert’s managing director, said: “This will be our 11th year exhibiting at the Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show and we’re really excited to be in the brand new exhibition hall! The show is always at the top of our exhibition list. It’s quite simply the UK’s most successful engineering and electronic show, providing great leads and networking opportunities.” Convert will be sharing its stand with SK Electronics,

a Manchester-based PCB assembler, with whom it works in partnership. Convert has been in business for 12 years, initially employing nine people when it was set up in 2006. It has grown significantly and now employs 30 members of staff. Visit Convert at the Southern Manufacturing Show 2018 on stand A155 www.convertltd.co.uk

HENKEL ADHESIVES CONTINUE TO INFLUENCE HOW PRODUCTS ARE DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED

Since their introduction earlier this year, Loctite has proved its ability to improve assembly applications, streamline process steps and bond materials in applications with difficult requirements, and playing a considerable part in its success has been Henkel’s ability to provide the optimal dispensing equipment for the task. Henkel builds its own systems, which ensures the dispensing system is designed with the benefit of an in-depth knowledge of the adhesive’s characteristics and performance. The result is the supply of a turnkey solution that is truly fit for purpose. Underpinning these latest developments is Henkel’s wider Loctite, Bonderite, Teroson and Technomelt product ranges that continue to benefit the entire value chain. Southern Manufacturing visitors will be able to get expert advice on a variety

of applications such as thread locking, sealing, gasketing, retaining, instant and structural bonding. Regardless of the conditions and which substrates are chosen, Henkel will endeavour to provide the most appropriate solution.
