ALUMINIUM PRESS-IN INSERTS OFFER A LIGHTWEIGHT ALTERNATIVE TO BRASS
A range of 2024 aluminium Press-In Inserts has been introduced by SPIROL. Available in symmetrical (Series INS 50) and headed (INS 51) versions, these complement the existing brass line. Threaded Inserts are essential for reinforcing plastic
components and provide a reusable thread within a bolted assembly. This ensures a proper seating torque and prevents the potential for plastic creep which can compromise the performance of the assembly. The Inserts are available in a variety of options tailored
for different performance requirements and installation methods. Inserts designed to be Pressed-In without heat, such as SPIROL’s INS 50 and INS 51, are intended to provide the lowest cost to install with acceptable joint performance for many applications. While brass remains the industry standard for machining due
to its material properties, 2024 aluminium offers distinct lightweight advantages at 1/3rd the weight. This 2024 aluminium grade is also lead-free. Furthermore, the distinct galvanic properties between aluminium and brass provide more options, catering to diverse application needs. As the function and cost of the assembly will vary drastically based on the type of Insert used in the application, SPIROL’s Engineering team are available to help determine the most appropriate Insert based on the specific application and assembly requirements.

METAL BELLOWS COUPLING RANGE SUITS APPLICATIONS WITH SHORT SHAFT DISTANCES
rotating agitators have to blend a rectangular base of about 1,200 m² instead of a circular one, but there were more concrete pillars than roof girders in the towers. The Dutch system manufacturer, Jongia Mixing
Technology, developed a concept where two high-performance agitators per tower ensure the biogas production. This is implemented using MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units. Each agitator with 4.5m agitator shafts is driven by a NORD industrial gear unit. The application uses a total of 16 ATEX-compliant gear units with a speed ratio of 123:1, powers of 37 kW and an output torque of almost 29,000 Nm.

CLAMPING SYSTEM PORTFOLIO EXPANDS
norelem has expanded its portfolio of zero-point clamping systems and 5-axis clamping modules from UNILOCK.
The pneumatic zero-point clamping systems
allow clamping and changeover of fixtures and tools in seconds. The 5-axis clamping module was specially developed for 5-sided machining of complex workpieces, and both systems achieve repeatability better than 0.005mm. Zero-point clamping systems set a fixed
reference point, from which workpieces are positioned and fixed with precision. Elimination of the need for realignment shortens set-up times and boosts productivity. Also available are 5-axis clamping modules in sizes 80 and
50, for machining of objects with different geometries, formats and weights from five sides with no interfering contours. A new addition to the range is the UNILOCK EGM 110-75 clamping module for use on machine tables or in fixtures, even in situations with limited space. It can also be integrated with an EGM 110-75 pallet coupler in automated robotic systems, for automated changeover of clamping pallets. This is said to be ideal for automated clamping devices. The UNILOCK VARIO 5-axis basic module
allows flexible positioning when clamping workpieces and fixtures. It can be mounted via the rail in the base with one or two UNILOCK
hub for integrated installation. The expansion cone connects securely to an appropriately sized axial bore in the shaft. By using an expanding
cone hub on one side and a radial clamping hub on the other side, a rotationally symmetrical and non-positive
connection is maintained. As the installation length within the overall system is significantly reduced, it is ideal for applications with small shaft distances and tight installation conditions. The metal bellows coupling is ideal for
highly dynamic drives due to its high torsional rigidity and low moments of inertia.
