Carrier Rental Systems champions sustainable innovation at George Leslie Innovation Day
Carrier Rental Systems has showcased its expanded portfolio and rental capabilities at the 4th Annual George Leslie Innovation Day. The company participated as the Sustainable Energy sponsor and provided power for the event.
The Innovation Day marked the first public showcase of Carrier Rental Systems as one unified brand, following the recent integration of SLD Pumps and Power. Bringing together temperature control, pumps and energy capabilities, the event
demonstrated the breadth of expertise now available to customers through a single rental solutions provider. It also reflected Carrier Rental Systems’ continued investment in smarter, cleaner and more efficient technologies that can help customers reduce fuel consumption, emissions and overall energy impact. On display were a 6-inch electric pump, a hybrid solar generator and a compact
zero-carbon battery pod from the Pump & Power range, alongside temperature-control equipment including an 8kW rental heat pump, a 300m3/h desiccant dehumidifier, a 29kW electric fan heater and a 22kW electric boiler. The Innovation Day brought together businesses and industry specialists to explore new technologies and approaches, with sustainability and innovation at the heart of the event. Leigh Dempsey, sustainability and innovation advisor at George Leslie, said: “The
George Leslie Innovation Day brings together organisations and individuals committed to pioneering products, progressive technologies and transformative ways of working that are shaping the future of our industry. Carrier Rental Systems is part of that forward- thinking community, making a positive impact across the board and we are delighted and proud to welcome them as our Sustainable Energy Sponsor for the event.” John Gallagher-Worthington, sales director, power & pumps, Carrier Rental Systems, said: “Carrier Rental Systems is proud to support George Leslie at its Innovation Day. Events like these provide a valuable opportunity to showcase our expertise, foster meaningful collaboration and bring together people, ideas and possibilities to help shape a more innovative and sustainable future.”
TM44 Alliance launches as heatwaves spotlight hotel air conditioning legal risk
Greengage Solutions, Mission Net Zero and Sustainable Hotel Buyer have joined forces to launch the TM44 Alliance, an initiative dedicated to helping hotels, venues, leisure and retail businesses understand and manage their obligations. The Alliance is a response to growing concern that many organisations remain unaware of one of the hospitality sector’s most overlooked legal compliance requirements. TM44 air conditioning inspections are a legal requirement for qualifying systems and must be renewed every five years. Businesses without a valid inspection may be exposed to enforcement action by Trading Standards, financial penalties and reputational damage. As TM44 certificates are publicly recorded on the Government register, maintaining compliance is increasingly recognised as part of good governance and responsible asset management.
Beyond compliance, TM44 inspections also provide practical recommendations
to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs and support longer-term sustainability goals. Andrew Perolls, chief executive of Greengage Solutions, said: “Through Greengage’s work with UK hotels, we can see that awareness of TM44 remains worryingly low. Many organisations simply don’t realise they’re no longer compliant until they check their records. The new TM44 Alliance simplifies compliance, provides trusted guidance and helps businesses improve building performance. Simon Catterick, founder of Mission Net Zero and Chair of the TM44 Alliance, added: “Following another summer of exceptionally high temperatures, the launch comes as hotels and venues become increasingly reliant on air conditioning to maintain guest comfort, making the efficient operation and legal compliance of these systems more important than ever.”
Industry experience suggests awareness of TM44 obligations remains low across the hospitality sector, leaving many organisations at risk of unknowingly falling out of compliance. Darren Dorrington, founder of Sustainable Hotel Buyer and vice chair of the TM44 Alliance, concluded: “If businesses actively investing in ESG are unknowingly falling outside compliance, it suggests this is a wider industry issue. Our aim is to improve awareness before enforcement becomes a reality.” The TM44 Alliance provides a single point of access to accredited TM44 assessors, compliance guidance and ongoing support for organisations managing one site or nationwide property portfolios. Its website enables organisations to check whether their properties have a valid TM44 inspection, understand their legal obligations and connect with qualified assessors across the UK.
