PIE UK has been awarded a contract worth £534,000 with Tameside Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, at Tameside General Hospital. The work involves the strip out and refurbishment of the pathology laboratory and incorporates all new flooring, ceilings, decoration, joinery, fixed furniture, sanitary fittings and mechanical and electrical installations.
The refurbished laboratory will provide office accommodation, open plan angle working areas, cellular offices, reception, boardrooms and meeting rooms, in addition to other complimentary accommodation and ancillary works.

Key role for adi in world first gasificaon plant waste to fuel project in Swindon
playing a central role in the delivery of an ultra hi-tech world first in Swindon, Wiltshire. The £30m project,

integrated and installed by adi Projects, decarbonises heating and transport. If replicated across the country, the technology has the potential to help the UK meet its carbon budget and waste disposal commitments in the years ahead.
The Swindon installation – is due to come on line this summer – is forecast to treat 10,000 tonnes of refuse and waste wood a year, to produce 22GWh of grid quality gas – enough to heat 1,500 homes or fuel 75 heavy goods vehicles.

Horbury in fire safety agreement with Reallies
Property maintenance provider Horbury Property Services has become an approved fire safety contractor on the procurement framework Re:allies – a partnership between Procure Plus, Efficiency North and the Central Housing Investment Consortium. Companies across four areas of the country have been approved by the consortium as part of its new Fire Risk and Mitigation Framework. Horbury will provide fire compartmentation and fire stopping works to Wales, the Midlands and South areas.
Stascs reveal fall in cable related fires
The Approved Cables Initiative (ACI) believes there has been a 15% fall in incidents of
accidental electrical fires attributed to wiring, cables or plugs, since it launched its Initiative in 2010. Latest statistics collated by the Home Office from detailed information on incidents attended by Fire and Rescue Services since 2010 reveal 962 fewer fires, a significant reduction over the past seven years. Of the 29,312 accidental electrical fires in England, 5,241 (18%) were attributed to wiring, cabling or plugs.

Test experts at the British Board of Agrément (BBA) are now using a new Instron universal testing machine to test building products, including those for the roofing, cladding, highways/car parking, house-building and civil engineering industries. The new load frame equipment is an upgrade to the BBA’s previous machine, offering an additional test space, a widened scope of products to be tested thanks to an increased load capacity from 100kN to 250kN, greater accuracy and stability and the latest Bluehill Universal software.
