EDITOR’S COMMENT & CONTENTS Help installers make sound decisions
he energy crisis has ramped up the urgency of meeting decarbonisation of heating goals, but installers and building managers must have absolute clarity on what to do to achieve it. I can only echo the sentiments of Pete Mills, Bosch Commercial & Industrial (Pg 7) who is concerned over battle lines being drawn over which technology should be king.
T
Most experts say it will take a combination of technologies, particularly in light of the fact that our buildings come in so many different types and ages. This surely means that not every structure will be suited to only one technology, but rather there will be different technologies suited to different buildings, be they on or off the gas grid, existing or new build.
On a regular basis, this month included, BSEE highlights many of these technologies, their benefits and how they can help businesses future-proof their energy security.
This month we touch on the scope for on-site power generation on pg 5 and the unique contribution made by GSHPs on page 18. But for building managers and installers, information is golden and they need all the facts to be able to make sound decisions.
This will be crucial, especially if we seriously want to speed up the decarbonisation of heat process and that has never been more pressing than now as energy prices soar.
