Snapshot shows the scale of emissions reporting challenges
Launched at Innovation Zero, BEAMA 2050 Connected’s data snapshot reveals how businesses across the UK’s electrification and clean growth supply chains are responding to rapidly increasing demand for emissions data. Titled “Connecting the Dots: Emissions Reporting Snapshot”, the visual data-led snapshot provides a comprehensive overview of how organisations are approaching emissions reporting, demonstrating notable progress and commitment despite persistent challenges. The data shows that while many companies are enhancing their emissions reporting capabilities, inconsistencies in methodologies, data availability, and varied reporting requirements continue to create challenges, especially for those with limited resources or operating within global supply chains. Additionally, the data confirms that addressing Scope 3 emissions and reporting remains a significant challenge due to gaps in available information. In response to these challenges, the snapshot calls on policymakers and businesses to collaborate in improving data consistency, reducing reporting burdens and supporting effective decision-making. Advocating for greater alignment in reporting frameworks and clearer policy guidance to empower businesses of all sizes to meet their evolving expectations.
Despite these barriers, the BEAMA Snapshot also highlights a positive trajectory in the industry’s approach to emissions reporting. Many organisations are focusing on enhancing data credibility through third-party verification and actively seeking external support, demonstrating a strengthened commitment to transparency and accountability in emissions reporting.

AI datacentre boom risks pushing local Net Zero targets to breaking point
As hyperscale AI infrastructure expands beyond London into Manchester and South Wales, there’s a warning that regional grids and decarbonisation plans face mounting pressure SaveMoneyCutCarbon, the integrated decarbonisation delivery platform, has warned that the physical infrastructure behind Britain’s AI economy is becoming heavily concentrated in specific regions that may face disproportionate pressure on power capacity, water demand and carbon reduction targets as adoption accelerates. Most UK datacentre capacity remains concentrated in Greater London, with more than 1,000 MW across the capital region and Slough operating as Europe’s largest cluster. However, major growth hubs are now emerging in Greater Manchester, South Wales, the North East, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire and Scotland as operators seek land, grid connectivity and power availability. Greater Manchester is now the UK’s second-largest co-location data-centre hub, with an estimated 24 MW of capacity in 2024, while Cardiff, Newport and Bridgend have helped establish South Wales as another major AI infrastructure growth area. SaveMoneyCutCarbon says datacentre growth is no longer just about where facilities are built, but who absorbs the pressure needed to power them. Datacentres already consume around 2.5% of UK electricity, with demand expected to rise four-fold by 2030, creating both economic opportunity and infrastructure risk for regions hosting AI-related capacity. The platform says these areas could face growing pressure on local grids, energy
resilience, water systems, public infrastructure and Net Zero plans unless businesses reduce avoidable demand across the wider built environment. The organisation says local authorities, landlords, public-sector operators and businesses around emerging AI clusters must treat decarbonisation as infrastructure resilience, not just ESG policy, by cutting energy and water waste across offices, industrial sites, retail estates, hospitals, schools and logistics infrastructure through practical efficiency upgrades, onsite renewables, battery storage and performance monitoring.
Mark Sait, chief executive of SaveMoneyCutCarbon, said: “AI infrastructure exists in physical communities. It draws electricity from local grids, requires cooling, consumes water and places real pressure on regional systems. If areas such as Slough, Manchester and South Wales are expected to support the next generation of AI infrastructure, reducing avoidable energy demand across surrounding buildings and estates becomes economically and environmentally critical.” SaveMoneyCutCarbon says AI infrastructure growth will force businesses and
regional policymakers to treat energy efficiency as economic resilience. As AI adoption accelerates, local decarbonisation will depend not only on cleaner power and grid investment, but on practical operational improvements that reduce pressure on the systems supporting Britain’s digital economy.

Heat pump manufacturer strengthens leadership team
Clade Engineering Systems, manufacturer of natural refrigerant air source heat pumps for commercial & industrial use, has appointed Tom Wilson as its new sales director, reinforcing the company’s strategic growth ambitions as it prepares for full integration into the Groupe Atlantic portfolio. Tom’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Clade, as demand for natural refrigerant heat pump solutions continues to grow across commercial and industrial applications. With extensive experience across merchant, operations and strategic sales leadership, Tom will play a key role in supporting consultants, specifiers and contractors navigating the transition to low carbon heating. Tom brings with him decades of experience in the HVAC and building services sector, having built a long-standing career with BSS, one of the UK’s key distributors of pipeline and heating solutions. Following his departure from BSS in 2022, Tom has undertaken a number of consultancy roles across the sector.

Indoor climate specialist drives growth with new appointment
Zehnder Group UK has appointed Michael Page as its new business development manager (light commercial), reinforcing its commitment to growth within the light commercial market. Technical training manager to support installer education and development
Salamander Pumps, manufacturer of water boosting solutions, has appointed a new technical training manager to support in educating and developing installers. Richard Bambridge brings more than 38 years’ experience within plumbing and heating roles to his new position, and previously ran his own heating and plumbing business for 20 years. For last 13 years, he has also held lecturing positions at colleges, where he taught and trained students and apprentices looking to become plumbers or heating engineers. In his new role, Richard is tasked with delivering training sessions to help develop, educate and inform installers on best practices when using Salamander Pumps’ solutions. He is also raising awareness and understanding of the company’s range of water boosting products to ensure the correct solution is specified for a certain job. Commenting on his new role, Richard said: “Salamander Pumps has built a strong
reputation in the marketplace for delivering high-quality products and expert advice to address water flow and pressure issues. “I look forward to delivering practical, high-impact training for installers to help improve
