ESP introduces Espire IP65 Mains Sounder Strobe
SP, part of the Scolmore Group, has expanded its Espire fire and CO
alarm accessory range with the introduction of the new IP65 mains powered sounder strobe unit, engineered for a range of applications including apartment buildings, residential properties, HMOs and multi-occupancy dwellings, assisted living environments and student accommodation. Building on the success
of the previous model, the latest Espire sounder strobe has been designed to deliver enhanced functionality while simplifying installation. The unit operates directly with Espire interconnected alarms and does not require a relay base, helping installers reduce both installation time and overall project costs. The mains powered sounder strobe activates an audible and visual alert when an Espire alarm signal
is activated. This dual notification provides a clear indication of the alarm location, supporting quicker identification by residents and responding personnel. Apartment developments typically incorporate Part 6 fire detection systems within living areas while
communal areas and escape routes are protected by Part 1 systems. The new Espire sounder strobe integrates seamlessly with an Espire Part 6 system, providing a clear visual and audible indicator when an alarm within an apartment is triggered. Designed with durability and flexibility in mind, the unit has been independently IP tested to ensure reliable performance. Installers can select from different sounder options to suit the specific requirements of the application, while multiple knockout points assist with straightforward wiring during installation. The sounder strobe is available with either a red or transparent lens, offering flexibility to suit a
variety of design preferences and installation environments. Offering a five-year warranty, the introduction of the Espire IP65 mains sounder strobe reinforces
ESP’s commitment to providing practical, compliant and installer-friendly fire safety solutions for modern residential developments.

Trianco’s Activair indoor heat pumps are installed in housing association properties in Argyll
L
eading heat pump specialist, Trianco, has supplied Activair
indoor air source heat pumps for a £100,000 development programme in Scotland in partnership with award-winning principal contractor, the Procast Group. The joint trial by Procast and Trianco, on six flats managed by Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA), showcases the newest and most up-to-date technology of its kind – and serves to test and examine an alternative to communal heating and district heat networks. The trial project is a first for Scotland as contractor Procast looks for a highly efficient air source
heat pump unit that would be suitable for installing in the most difficult to treat flats and tenements throughout the UK. Peter Beighton, Managing Director of Trianco explains, “This trial is a huge step forward in bringing innovation and practicality together. It is hoped that the new installations, which are far more compact than a typical air source heat pump, which sits outside of a property, should improve energy efficiency, provide tenants with savings and lead to better insulated homes, as well as being better for the planet. These heat pumps fit into the kitchen just like an additional boiler would, so it is a huge step forward in bringing innovation and practicality together. Now completed, the project will have a hugely positive impact on living conditions for tenants as well as help to reduce their energy bills. Derek Innes, Owner and Managing Director of Procast Group, said: "Innovation and technology is a
huge part of what we do at Procast Group and this project is a shining example of that. "Working with Trianco and Argyll Community Housing Association, we’re intrigued to see how
Trianco's revolutionary indoor air source heat pumps can have a positive impact on the lives of people in the community on Glebe Street. These heat pumps fit into your kitchen just like an additional boiler would, so it is a huge step forward in bringing innovation and practicality together.
"The project also highlights yet another important piece of work from Procast Group to help improve the housing stock on Scotland’s islands and in our most rural communities." Peter Beighton, Managing Director of Trianco
said: “Our innovative Activair Indoor Heat Pumps are ideal for apartments and properties without the space outside for a traditional heat pump or where planning rules would restrict an outdoor unit. The heat pump is connected to outside with two air ducts, one to draw air in and the other to expel the air. This project is really exciting for us and will hopefully lead to further projects partnering with Procast”. The Activair units are available in 5 or 7kw outputs and can be purchased as a solo heat pump (which can be connected to a third party cylinder for hot water) or as either a vertical or horizontal configuration with combined heat pump and domestic hot water cylinder. There are also flexible ducting options using either rectangular or circular ducting which can be connected to either the left, right or rear of the heat pump. Over the coming months, Trianco is set to
introduce a new R290 Indoor Heat Pump range, featuring a highly efficient 3.2kW wall-mounted unit and a 5kW floor-standing model. Both options can be paired with a standard heat pump cylinder to deliver reliable heating and hot water. Trianco is committed to developing
innovative renewable heating solutions. To view the full range of Trianco’s heating products visit
