Victoria White, Editor E S

chneider Electric has announced the appointment of David Hall as zone presi- dent of the UK and Ireland (UK&I). David will spearhead the strategic growth of the UK&I, a region that is pivotal to Schneider Electric’s ambitions in Europe. At a time when the UK and Irish energy landscapes are under- going rapid transformation, Schneider brings strong expertise in a wide range of markets, electrifying, automating and digitalising industry to support competitiveness and resilience. From grid modernisation to electrification, Hall will oversee the continued rollout of Schneider Electric’s robust solutions that drive operational efficiency and energy security across sectors. This includes the rollout of infra- structure needed to accommodate growing electricity demand across the UK&I. Hall brings extensive knowledge and understanding of the UK&I business along with a customer-first approach to the role. Having worked at Schneider Electric for nine years, holding senior leadership positions across the business, he is well equipped to make an immediate impact. Most recently, Hall served as senior vice president for Industrial Automa- tion Strategic Accounts, where he led efforts on Schneider Electric’s automation and control solutions globally. Prior to this, he led the UK&I Power Systems business, overseeing the imple- mentation of cutting-edge technology in the shift to renewable generation, EVs, electric rail and shore-to-ship electric charging. He will report to Laurent Bataille, executive vice presi- dent of Europe Operations.

ENDRESS+HAUSER ACQUIRES SOPAT

ndress+Hauser has further expanded its port- folio of measurement instruments, solutions and services for process analysis. It has acquired SOPAT, a Germany-based specialist in inline process measurement technology, retaining the company’s staff in Berlin and Chemnitz. SOPAT and its subsidiary Parsum now come under Endress+Hauser’s liquid analysis product center, based in Gerlingen, Germany. “The particle characterisation systems developed by SOPAT complement our existing portfolio by adding a range that is strategically important in terms of our core target industries,” said Endress+Hauser liquid analysis managing director Dr Thomas Buer. SOPAT was founded in Berlin in 2012 by Jörn Emmerich and Dr Sebastian Maaß. In 2022, it acquired Parsum in Chemnitz, Germany, a maker of inline particle size analysis systems founded in 1997. SOPAT and its subsidiary Parsum now have a combined workforce of 30.

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC APPOINTS NEW ZONE PRESIDENT UK & IRELAND

SOPAT’s smart systems use a photo-optical image- based inline technology to analyse particles, droplets and bubbles in running processes in real time. The technology measures particle sizes and shapes without sampling or dilution, thereby enabling precision process monitoring, faster response times and enhanced product quality. Parsum probes, on the other hand, use a laser beam in combination with fiber-optic spatial filtering to analyse particle size and particle speed distributions, particularly for solids, powders and granulates.

Commenting on the appointment, Bataille emphasised the significant growth opportuni- ties in the Zone: “The UK and Ireland are both taking decisive steps towards a more sustain- able future, electrifying, automating, digitalising and decarbonising their industries, buildings and power grids. The net zero economy in the UK alone could be worth £1 trillion by 2030 – spelling an enormous opportunity for growth, innovation and job creation to strengthen energy sovereignty and resilience across industries. Meanwhile, smarter invest- ments in energy infrastructure and transport will significantly contribute to the effective imple- mentation of Ireland’s National Development Plan, with billions of euros already allocated for strategic energy projects.

“David’s strong customer focus, proven track record of growth, and deep market insight make him exceptionally well equipped to lead us into the next phase of our UK and Ireland journey as we continue to strengthen our position as the region’s trusted energy technology partner.”

TRESCAL REAFFIRMS DOMINANCE IN CALIBRATION SECTOR

rescal USA has announced a signifi- cant strengthening of its domestic operations. In a period marked by indus- try-wide consolidation and the closure of competitors, Trescal

is moving in the opposite direction, expanding its footprint and deepening its commitment to the American industrial base. Trescal’s resurgence is supported by a network of 20 labo- ratories, headlined by a flagship on each coast: Silicon Valley, California, and Melbourne, Florida.

Silicon Valley laboratory is tailored to the rigorous compli- ance needs of the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device sectors. It offers ISO 17025 accredited services specifically for the instrumentation critical to GxP environments, ensuring data integrity and regulatory adherence. Proving its dedication to national interests, Trescal’s Space Coast laboratory in Melbourne, Florida provides advanced capabilities in Dimensional, Mechanical, Thermodynamic, Electrical DC/LF and RF Radio Frequency calibration to the aerospace industry. The laboratory supports the rapid pace of commercial space explora- tion and traditional aviation manufacturing.

Trescal combines local technical expertise with national reach through its centers of excellence in Philadelphia (Temperature/ Mass), Cleveland (Gas Flow), Detroit (RF/Mechanical), and Silicon Valley (RF Power Sensors), and OEM-equivalent Elec- trical calibration hubs in Milwaukee and Atlanta. Aymar de Vandiere, Trescal USA president, said: “Our clients cannot afford to have critical instruments sitting in transit or waiting in a service line. By building laboratories and placing our technical experts in the backyard of the most demanding industries, we have successfully slashed turnaround times to ensure that American innovation never slows down.”
