Displays RUGGEd ‘lEttERbox’ FoRMat tFt dIsplay boxEs I

ndustrial LCD manufacturer KOE has launched two new 6.3-inch letter-box format TFT display modules. The new Rugged+

TX16D204VM0BAA and TX16D205VM0BAA displays both feature a resolution of 800 x 280 pixels, a wide 8:3 aspect ratio, the latest IPS (in- plane switching) technology, and are available with a brightness specification of 500cd/m² and 1,000cd/m² respectively. A suitable display solution for use in panel

and rack mounted equipment, portable instruments, domestic appliances and smart meters, KOE’s IPS display technology delivers good colour saturation and image stability, high contrast and deep black levels. Viewing angles of up to 170° are supported in all directions (left/right, up/down). The 6.3-inch display modules feature a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a white LED backlight with a specified brightness rating of 1,000cd/m² for the TX16D205VM0BAA, 500cd/m² for the TX16D204VM0BAA, and a 50K hour half- brightness lifetime. These key features ensure that display images are bright, colourful and accurately reproduced. The optical and environmental specifications of KOE’s Rugged+ display modules are derived from equivalent quality levels as those used in automotive grade displays. The new 6.3-inchdisplay modules

have been developed for use under extreme temperature, mechanical shock and vibration environments where guaranteed and consistent display operation is essential. KOE’s 6.3-inch Rugged+ TFT display modules will provide reliable operation in extreme temperature environments with an operating temperature range of -30°C to +85°C. Additionally, the cosmetic

specification of KOE’s Rugged+ 6.3-inch display modules defines zero bright dot defects, which provides users with the assurance and peace of mind of a premium, high quality display module. Benson Huang, marketing manager, KOE said:

“The letterbox format of the 6.3-inch Rugged+ modules provide the ideal display solution for a wide range of industrial and commercial products and applications. The high brightness option enables improved outdoor readability which further broadens the scope of these high performance TFT displays.” The TX16D204VM0BAA’s brightness

specification of 500cd/m² is ideal for low ambient light and indoor applications, whereas the TX16D205VM0BAA’s rating of 1,000cd/m² is suitable for outdoor applications where higher brightness is required.

ExpandEd HMI FaMIly I

DEC Corporation has released the HG5G-V 15inch human- machine interface (HMI) touchscreen, the largest model in its High-Performance family. This HMI offers more display real estate

so applications can readily show extensive process information with improved aesthetics and visibility. The HG5G-V 15inch TFT-LCD screen features a resolution of

1024×768 pixels, producing vivid images and giving users an additional option in the High-Performance family scaled to fit larger applications. Like all HMIs in the series, the HG5G-V offers brightness of 650 cd/m2

to

deliver greater visibility, even in high-glare locations such as direct sunlight. It has a backlight life rating of 100,000 hours minimum. A wide operating temperature range of -20°C to +60°C - as well

as IP66F, IP67F, Type 4X, 12, 13, Class I Division 2 hazardous location, and UL61010 approval ratings - assures reliable operation in the toughest environments. The HG5G-V HMI is built for endurance and backed by a three-year warranty. Communications capabilities are bolstered by the addition of BACnet/IP,

suitable for a wide range of building automation and HVAC applications. Support is included for over 100 other serial and networking industrial protocols such as Modbus RTU Master/Slave and Modbus TCP/IP. Up to four protocols can be used simultaneously, allowing the HG5G-V to exchange data with many sources and systems. File Transfer Protocol (FTP) functionality allows users to configure the

HMI as an FTP Client or Server for transferring programs - and for copying or moving files between local memory, an external memory device or a cloud-based file, database or data storage platform. Web server functionality for HMI remote monitoring and control is

accessed using any device capable of hosting a web browser including a smartphone, tablet or laptop. Accessing the HMI using this method gives a

RGB data which enables a colour palette of up to 262K colours. Both modules have mechanical outline dimensions of 167mm (w) x 69.0mm (h) x 9.0mm (d), with an active LCD area of 150.0mm (w) x 52.5mm (h). KOE is committed to ensuring long-term

product availability, with continuity of supply essential for many industrial products and equipment. KOE’s new Rugged+ displays can now be sourced and supplied for a minimum period of five years. The KOE 6.3- inch TX16D204VM0BAA and TX16D205VM0BAA TFT display modules are available immediately from KOE’s sales channel and distribution partners.

user the same functionality as if standing in front of the HMI on the factory floor. The HMI also supports

industrial internet of things (IIoT) operation by serving up web pages developed using a browser-based web page editor, and it can also generate emails. In addition to browser- based access, users can employ the WindEDIT Lite app on any iOS or Android device over Wi-Fi for two-way communications with the HMI. Direct control by the HG5G-V HMI is enabled by adding up to four

expansion discrete or analog I/O modules. Programming to sense inputs and drive outputs is accomplished within the HMI software, providing a space saving all-in-one automation solution. USB, Ethernet and SD memory card ports deliver comprehensive

connectivity, while unique video-in and audio-out ports enable offer additional flexibility. In addition to building automation, other industries particularly well

suited for the HG5G-V HMI are wastewater treatment, machine tool, packaging equipment, oil and gas, food and beverage, elevator control, power utilities, traffic control and transportation, and others. With extensive communication and IIoT capabilities combined with expanded I/O, the HG5G HMI can control and connect to many types of systems, provide superior local visualisation and enable convenient remote access.
