unprecedented global demand for Thermometer Calibration. With the higher quantities required, we have been able to make cost savings and improved manufacturing efficiency. We have listened to our customers and the result is a new 989 model that is smaller and easier to mount, a wider temperature range and a PC interface. Response time is very fast, typically less

than five minutes to achieve the required temperature. The new Model 989 can be used either horizontally or vertically and features a high emissivity ridged plate that is 70mm in diameter and its temperature can be set from 20°C to 50°C to a resolution of 0.01°C.

HYDROGEN CAR DRIVES FOR EFFICIENCY WORLD RECORD
the world’s most efficient hydrogen fuelled car has used Sensor Technology’s TorqSense torque sensor to determine that their next generation vehicle needs a custom designed and built hub motor. Green Team Twente tested the angular speed of the shaft and the actual torque
A
generated. By measuring the input current and voltage of the motor controllers, they could determine the combined mechanical and electrical efficiency of the drivetrain. The power supply of the motor controllers and torque sensor can be read using the integral LabVIEW software. The tests showed that the drivetrain performed many times better in theory than in
practice, and therefore that there was room for improvement. Based on the test, the choice was made to develop a new hub motor, in which the optimum efficiency is geared to the desired range.

flammability resistance. These popular and tough plastic enclosures for terminal installations suit a wide
O
range of applications including digital and analogue instrumentation, sensors, interfaces, security systems, HVAC, machine building, construction equipment, Smart Factory and Industry 4.0.
IN-BOX offers high levels of impact resistance (IK07/08) and ingress protection (IP
66/67); the sealing gasket is pre-foamed in the top. Quarter-turn stainless steel lid screws speed up installation and maintenance.
The enclosures can be mounted on a wall, either directly or with brackets (accessory)
for external installations. Inside, there are screw pillars for DIN rails, PCBs and mounting plates.
IN-BOX is available as standard in light grey (RAL 7035) in a choice of high-gloss
plastics: ABS (UL 94 HB, IK07) or polycarbonate (UL 94 V-2, IK08). The transparent-lid versions can be specified in either ABS/PC or now PC for higher impact and flammability ratings. The PC enclosures comply with fire safety standard UL 94 5V (better than V-0), although the material has only the classification V-2.
Three versions of IN-BOX (opaque lid ABS, transparent lid ABS/PC and new transparent
lid PC) are available in 16 sizes from 84 x 82 x 55 mm to 302 x 232 x 110 mm. An opaque lid PC version is available in 10 sizes from 84 x 82 x 55 mm to 302 x 232 x 110 mm. Prices for the new models start at £17.
Accessories include pressure equalisation elements, cable grommets, security kits,
wall-mounting brackets, internal hinges, mounting plates, DIN rails (TH15, TH35) and self- tapping screws for mounting assemblies inside.
OKW can supply IN-BOX full customised. Services include CNC machining, printing of parts and labels, laser marking, decor foils, EMC shielding, installation and assembly.
