show preview u instrumentation, Analysis & Testing exhibition 2019 Instrumentation, Analysis & Testing Exhibition

engineering year and with visitors travelling from across the UK it is seen by many as the go-to event for testing and analysis technologies. returning to the Silverstone Wing at Silverstone race Circuit on 2 april, the exhibition is an opportunity to visit the 65 exhibitors to see the latest equipment and technologies as well as being a great meeting point for the exchange of ideas and contacts. The event, which has been running for over 30

T

years, is aimed at companies and individuals with an interest in the field of engineering involving measurement, analysis, testing and prediction. It covers many sectors including Automotive, Aerospace, Motorsport, Rail, Off-Highway, Mechanical Handling, Civil Engineering, Industrial and Power Generation. Attendance is free and visitors receive complimentary refreshments along with free parking. In addition, for 2019 all visitors will have the chance to win a pair of tickets to the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. A key part of the day is the series of mini

seminars and this year’s overall theme is “Bridging the Gap between the Virtual & Physical Worlds”. The programme of eight presentations throughout the day will cover a wide range of topics from well-respected engineers across several different sectors. The keynote speaker is Ian Jones, Expert-Metrology; Structures Test from Airbus who will present “The Route towards Smarter Testing of Aircraft Structures”. Ian will outline a Smarter Testing approach proposed within Airbus that challenges the requirements for physical validation at all of the test pyramid levels and, depending upon the maturity of the technology, either a PVT or a structural test, will be used to qualify the component. New for 2019 will be a live demonstration

showing the synchronised interaction between an AB Dynamics controlled vehicle (using their new Flex-0 drive-by-wire system) and their LaunchPad platform which represents Vulnerable Road Users (such as cyclists) for ADAS and autonomous vehicle validation. The Instrumentation, Analysis & Testing

Exhibition opens at 10am on 2 April. More information and free registration is available at www.e-i-s.org.uk. The Engineering Integrity Society is a long-

established charitable society and consists of a number of associated groups comprised of experts from industry, each focusing on a particular area of fatigue, testing and durability and sound and vibration. The Society, which aims to inspire newly qualified engineers to embrace engineering as their chosen profession, is supported and sponsored by both industry and academia. As well as running this annual exhibition, the EIS is committed to

promoting events and publications, providing a forum for experienced and new engineers to discuss present industrial needs, new technologies and to stimulate both company and personal development. A number of seminars are planned for the first

half of 2019 including: Electrifying Challenges for Road and Tyre Noise (MIRA Technology Institute 15 May), Durability & Integrity of Additive Manufactured Products: Do you really know what you’ve made? (MTC, Coventry 18 June), Integrity of Structural Joints Subjected to Fatigue Loads (AMRC, Sheffield 4 July) and Young Engineers Seminars (various dates).
