PRIMUS, A NEW BIOFIDELIC DUMMY, IS ALMOST LIFELIKE

A

range of “intelligent” biofidelic dummies are now available following

the collaboration between specialist CTS and Kistler Group instrumentation experts. The bones, ligaments and joints of

PRIMUS are closely modelled on those of humans as is the weight distribution, skin and skeletal structure making the new dummy an ideal solution for a wide range of test applications including impact testing in real time. PRIMUS can be used for highly accurate reconstruction of accidents, not only in the

automotive sector but also in other areas from aviation to safety engineering and from product testing to recovery exercises for rescue services. During operation, PRIMUS behaves like an unconscious person in both standing and

sitting positions with no need for further modifications. Equipped with Kistler in-body measurement technology, PRIMUS delivers precise measurement and real damage data for highly accurate and dependable test results. sings are rated to IP 66 and IP 67 protection classes. IP 69K is available on request.

UKAS TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION SERVICES

platinum resistance probes using a range of leading manufacturer stirred liquid baths and SPRTs across a temperature range of - 40 to 200°C with a CMC from ± 0.05°C. Additional air probe calibrations for system temperature measurements for anemometers, IAQ sensors, HVAC probes and RH probes can be undertaken in a controlled environment air chamber across a 0 to 60°C range with a CMC from 0.19°C. For the user undertaking their own internal calibration work the laboratory is accredited for the calibration of dry block calibrators and stirred liquid baths using single and multipoint time dependent temperature profiling, also referred to as spatial temperature surveying or mapping with a CMC from ± 0.045°C.

MINI TURBINE FLOWMETERS FOR DISPENSING APPLICATIONS

n

flowmeter range are being successfully employed in batching processes and dispensing applications particularly within the food and beverage, chemical and laboratory sectors. Turbine flow meters offer the high level of repeatability and dependability required for accurate batch delivery systems. Titan Enterprises maintains certification under NSF169 for their 800 Series turbine flowmeters and beverage dispensing flowmeters, as ‘equipment for food and drinks products’. Bruce Midgley, Director and Founder of Brentingby Gin, commented “With a new distillery, a number of pubs and mobile bar vehicles going into operation, our question was how to accurately monitor and check the flow of gin being dispensed through our bar taps and within the distillery process. Titan’s 800 series flowmeter was the perfect choice for our gin flow monitoring trials.”

control of processes; together with environmental monitoring. They are also installed in buildings of all types, research organisations, test houses and leisure facilities. High accuracy measurement, sensor stability and reliability are available as standard. Technical specifications for the entire product range are readily available on the Rotronic website www.rotronic.co.uk The wide range comprises handhelds; loggers including the continuous environmental monitoring system (RMS) with all data available securely anywhere with alarms; probes suitable for all applications with wide measurement ranges; transmitters including ATEX rated sensors for potentially explosive environments with analogue and digital outputs for controllers, and meteorological sensors for external measurements for the building management system (BMS).

and 1200 low profile series. It also offers specialist load cells like its BLP pedal load cell designed for force measurement on control pedals. The company’s wide selection of reaction and rotary torque transducers can be used in a variety of applications. Its torque sensors designs range from conventional shaft type to through-hole, flange designs and even wireless, contactless designs such as the Axial TQ. Interface’s XSensor hi-speed impact system is giving engineers new insight into the dynamics of high-speed impacts. It allows engineers to visualise pressure distribution of whiplash, airbag, seatbelt and head restraints on the human body. The company can also help with the measurement of many engine, gearbox, exhaust, hydraulic and fuel pressure applications with DDM’s range of sensors. .
