WIRELESS TEMPERATURE MONITORING WITH THERMADATA® WIFI LOGGERS

range of wireless temperature loggers, are designed and manufactured in the UK by Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd. All four models in the range offer a complete wireless temperature monitoring and logging solution, securely transmitting temperature data to a WiFi router, connected to the internet which can be accessed and viewed from a PC, laptop or tablet anywhere in the world giving accurate results and eliminating human error. The loggers have a distance range limited to the specification of the users WiFi router. Each logger has an intuitive LCD displaying temperature, WiFi connection status, max/min recorded temperatures, alarm status and battery life. The loggers are battery powered; simple to setup and the downloadable, easy to use software makes the ThermaData WiFi loggers perfect for HACCP analysis. The ThermaData WiFi Loggers are available from www.etiltd.com priced from £95 ex vat.

WANNER LAUNCHES NEW, VERSATILE HIGH FLOW PUMP

E

xtending its seal-less, packing-free product range, Wanner International has lunched the

Hydra-Cell® G66, a new powerful, positive displacement, multiple

diaphragm pump capable of flow rates up to 249 litres per minute, (65.7 US gpm) at pressures up to 48 bar (700 psi). The pumps are available with a choice of pump

head materials, including brass, 316L stainless steel, ductile iron, and polypropylene making them suitable for pumping a wide range of liquids, including water, acids, caustics, freons, ammonia solutions, resins, glues and adhesives, inks, paints, polymers and NGLs – butane and propane. The G66 is also capable of pumping slurries across the full spectrum of viscosities

and liquids at temperatures up to 100ºC. The unique seal-less design and horizontal disk check valves enable the Hydra-Cell

G66 to handle abrasives and particulates commonly found in recycled liquids that might damage or destroy other pumps.

HELMHOLTZ COIL SYSTEMS B

artington Instruments now offers Helmholtz coil systems in diameters of 350mm (HC9 &

HC16), 500mm (HC1™) or 1m (HC2™). Also available are 1.3m (BH1300) and 2m (BHC2000) Ferronato™ Helmholtz coils. The coils generate stable and homogeneous AC and DC magnetic fields in up to three axes, with an amplitude up to ±1mT at DC. Applications include calibration of

magnetometers integrated in consumer electronics, satellite assemblies, and directional drilling tools used in oil and gas exploration. The complete Helmholtz coil system,

including PA1 power amplifier and CU1 control unit, also offers the CU2 closed-loop unit, which enables active compensation of surrounding DC magnetic fields and attenuation of AC fields to 50Hz. The addition of the CU2 module increases system usability to more dynamic magnetic

environments than previously possible. The system runs through user editable LabView control software via a National Instruments acquisition card.

PORTABLE CALIBRATOR MEASURES PRESSURES UP TO 10,000 BAR

W

ith the CPH7000 portable process calibrator, high-pressure measuring

instruments can now also be tested in the field: This multifunction instrument is the first hand-held from WIKA that records measured values of up to 10,000 bar. For such measuring tasks, the portable calibrator uses the WIKA CPT7000 high- pressure sensor as an external reference. Its rupture-proof, thin-film cell is not welded. It is inserted tightly into a tapered pressure channel and is thus also insensitive to dynamic pressure profiles. Through the combination with this sensor, the already broad range of applications for the CPH7000 is expanded even further. The calibrator is a portable multifunction instrument with an integrated electrical module, a hand pump to generate test pressures up to 25 bar and a high-performance data logger.

ROTATIONAL SPEED SENSORS: COPING WITH EXTREMES

I

n connection with a project for one of its customers, RHEINTACHO FC and FE rotational speed

sensors have successfully passed an extreme temperature change test. The customer had stringent requirements for the stability of components – in this case rotational speed sensors – against temperature changes. RHEINTACHO's solution consists of two rotational speed sensors. Mechanically, it is based on the FC sensor and electronically on the FE sensor version as a 2-channel hall-difference sensor. It is suitable for detecting rotational speed and direction and can detect standstill (0Hz). The connection interface uses a common type of Deutsch-plug. The sensor's protection class is IP6K9K / IP67. The mechanical and electronic components are capable of withstanding extreme temperature change stress. The test procedure is simple, yet demanding: 1000 change cycles between -40 and 125°C. Change time between temperature limits is 30 seconds maximum. Dwelling time at temperature limits is 40 min each. All tested rotational speed sensors passed the 'torture' test and were fully functional afterwards. Sensors & Instrumentation Stand C12.

OFFSHORE ELECTRONICS CONTINUES ONGOING INVESTMENT

O

ffshore Electronics, the outsourced contract electronics manufacturing

company, is continuing its ongoing investment in the latest technology. Recent investments include the INTAMSYS

FUNMAT HT, a 3D printer fully capable of printing high-performance functional materials. This will help the company to improve productivity and efficiency still further. Engineers can now develop new test rigs, production jigs and even replacement parts for their surface mount placement machines, all at a fraction of the cost of machined parts or buying the originals. Offshore Electronics has also invested in two new Blundell Inspex HD 1080p full digital

microscopes. These will ensure that testing and quality standards are second to none, making the job even more straightforward. Although inspection processes at Offshore Electronics have always been rigorous, the addition of the digital microscopes will help the company become more efficient in their processes.
