NEW HCME SERIES: EASY TO INSTALL AND A COMPACT DESIGN

current sensor series can be directly mounted on busbars. This contributes to shorter installation and an easy pre- assembling of power electronics. Despite the limited space requirements –

S

the dimensions of the devices are 6cm in height and 14cm wide – the HCME current sensors measure high currents up to 5500 A with highly reliable precision. This makes the sensors an ideal component for present day power electronics, characterised by their strong modular and compact design. The HCME sensors utilise the so-called open-loop measurement principle. This

provides a direct representation of the primary current with an accuracy of up to ± 1%. The HCME sensors can measure direct or alternating currents, even if they have complex waveform, over a frequency range from 0 to 50 kHz.

FIRE PUMP VERIFICATION SIMPLIFIED T

he electric pump usually operates alone, with the diesel

pump present purely as a backup in case of emergency. SPP engineers used Katronic’s

simple chain-based clamping system to fit a pair of small ultrasonic transducers to the outside of the pipe, connected to the KATFlow 230. They then followed simple on-screen instructions to optimise the transducer positioning and make the measurement. The flow measurement is obtained by externally monitoring the time taken for a series of ultrasonic pulses to travel both upstream and downstream within the pipe between a pair of ultrasonic transducers. The electric pump was tested on an ascending section of pipework, primarily to prove the accuracy of the mechanical flow meter that was already in place. The diesel pump was more challenging to measure, with no operational meter present and only a very short run of straight pipework available.

PANASONIC HIGH-DENSITY, LONG-DISTANCE PYROELECTRIC MOTION SENSOR FROM TTI

T

TI, Inc., a world leading specialist distributor of

electronic components, now offers a new high-density, long-distance Panasonic pyroelectric sensor that complements and extends the EKMB and EKMC series of PIR Motion Sensors (PaPIRs). It is ideal for use in all types of lighting control equipment, offices, high-bay motion

sensors for warehouses, public and industrial buildings plus street lighting and security cameras. The lens is designed with an additional lip that allows fast integration into IP-rated

applications, by using, for example, an o-ring construction. The quad-sensor-based design with a very high detection zone density of 128 guarantees a reliable response even over large distances. The detection area is circular and symmetrical and this simplifies sensor integration because of the independence of sensor orientation within the final product. Lens diameter is only 20.45mm yet the detection distance is up to 17m, and detection

area is 16m at an installation height of 12m. TTI, Inc.

RATIO PYROMETER IGAR 320 FOR MID TEMPERATURE RANGE

T

he IGAR 320 pyrometer by LumaSense Technologies measures using the 2-color method, in which two adjacent wavelengths are used for the temperature

determination. This technique is advantageous compared to standard 1-color pyrometers because the measurement is largely independent of the object’s emissivity, dust and contaminants in the field of view do not impact measurements, and the measuring object can be smaller than the spot size. Although affordably priced, this instrument comes with many mentionable features

such as a 10 ms response time, built-in LED targeting light with thermal intensity alignment, integrated dirty window warning, and RS485 interface. The temperature range of 300 to 1300 °C and compact size make the IGAR 320 ideally

suited for many different industrial applications. including metal processing, vacuum processes and laser applications.

applications, the MiniPID 2 HS is a simple plug and play sensor providing a wide detection range of 0.5 ppb up to 3 parts per million (ppm). Ion Science’s MiniPID 2 HS also features

a re-designed, pneumatically sealed electrode stack for high sensitivity and a wide detection range. An innovative self-diagnostic feature

indicates whether the electrode stack is contaminated or if the sensor is not operating correctly. The MiniPID 2 HS incorporates Ion Science’s long-life lamp that offers 10,000 hours continuous operation. Together with exceptional brightness and improved stability, this facilitates reliable detection of less volatile and less readily sensed compounds, over an extended period of time.
