Red Ledge Automation partnership I
sets new Manufacturing & Logistics performance benchmark

provides additional safety for SOVEX
T
he use of Wieland Electric’s samosPRO Compact at SOVEX has reduced wiring, reduced installation time,
lowered the complexity of the control system and provided seamless integration of safety with the control function. The introduction of the SOVEX Bendy Boom vehicle loader meant three position modes which required additional safety, so Wieland’s engineers came up with a solution to swap out standalone safety and integrate a programmable system. This eliminated the need for more cable whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety and monitoring of positions. SOVEX Belt Vehicle Loaders are ideal for loading bays
and raised docks and, fixed in position, they offer the most robust solution available for inbound and outbound handling, loading or unloading 1200 parcels per hour from vans, trucks and containers up to 45ft. The award winning SOVEX Bendy Boom has a front boom which declines to - 25° and also extends up to 15 meters into a trailer.

Böwe Systec and Stockrail International which has a 30-year materials handling track record, to launch a series of fully integrated and automated supply chain systems that improve user performance by an average 250%, based on early reports from manufacturing and logistics industry users say Red Ledge. The partnership will publicly launch its new family of ‘Red Ledge Automated Manufacturing & Logistics’ systems at the Robotics and Automation Exhibition (Stand 220, Arena MK, Milton Keynes 11-12 October). Red Ledge systems use RFID and other forms of intelligence to optimise control of fully integrated production,
WMS, advanced sortation and speed-labelling systems, increasing throughput. Red Ledge, Böwe Systec and Stockrail International are joining forces to deliver systems for which early users report average productivity increases of 250%. Improvements of up to 700% have been reported by users moving from zero to full automation.

Handling with ease: Demag Manulift for loads of up to 500 kg
D
emag Cranes & Components has added a new model to its DCM-Pro Manulift range to accommodate increased load capacities. The new DC 5
Manulift allows users of Demag chain hoists to handle loads weighing up to 500 kg simply and safely. The DC Manulift, used in conjunction with a Demag DC chain hoist, may be used for simple and safe horizontal and vertical movement of loads with minimum operator effort. Loads may be manoeuvred with the operator using just one hand, leaving the other hand free to operate the crane control system. This provides ergonomic advantages over the use of conventional chain hoists, where the operator often needs to use both hands to lift and position loads. The DC Manulift’s control unit is rigidly connected to the load handling attachment, allowing the operator to guide the load with a central handle and, at the same time, lift and lower the load via integrated rocker switches, without having to change the hand position.

Rittal Offers Users Free Cooling Equipment Survey U
sers of Rittal enclosure cooling technology are being offered free on-site inspection surveys to
extends to any business with Rittal climate control installations, ranging from top therm, roof mounted fans, to Blue e or Blue e+ cooling units, all of which manage the temperature inside their enclosures. The user does not have to have previously registered with Rittal for their cooling units to qualify.
Excessive temperature or overheating in an electrical enclosure means that enclosure cooling is very important for a number of reasons:
• Unplanned interruptions to production due to tripping or failing control components are costly
• Excessive temperature affects the correct operation and service life of electrical equipment
• High temperatures that lead to tripping or failing control components are avoidable
• 80 per cent of control component failures may be addressed with a suitable cooling solution
36 OCTOBER 2017 | FACTORY EQUIPMENT Marketing Director Simon Kelemen says, “The costs
of downtime, loss of production and system shut-down due to equipment running over temperature can easily exceed £10,000 per hour. I don’t know any businesses that would be happy to right that off, particularly as it’s entirely avoidable.”
Inspection by Rittal experts For businesses with Rittal enclosure cooling equipment installed the process will involve an engineer conducting the review which will provide:
• Confirmation as to the condition of the devices
• An assessment of their cleanliness, function and serviceability
• An asset list documenting status of each enclosure
• A quotation (if required) based on the most appropriate solution for moving forward
• On-going service suggestions and offers, tailored to the site itself

Stertil loading pods boost productivity for Wells Farm Dairy
A
n installation of six loading pods designed by Stertil Dock Products has streamlined operations, shortened
work cycles and increased productivity for Wells Farm Dairy. Each pod features dock houses, dock shelters, dock
levellers and insulated sectional doors. The steel framed dock houses incorporate 40mm insulated cladding and are bolted to concrete bases to form robust and weather resistant structures. Within each dock house is a collapsible frame dock shelter, type WL 574, measuring 3500mm wide by 3500mm high. The S Series swing lip dock levellers, type SF 3020, are
manufactured from high tensile steel and provide a lifting capacity of 6000kg. During the loading and unloading process, the leveller adjusts itself automatically to the changing floor height of the truck. Also accommodated within the Stertil dock houses are
Thermadoor insulated sectional overhead doors that were specified with two vision panels.
