ROHDE & SCHWARZ ANNOUNCES DEMYSTIFYING EMC UK 2026 R

ohde & Schwarz will return to Silverstone Circuit on 24 November 2026 for its 12th annual Demystifying EMC event, bringing together electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) professionals for a day of technical

presentations, knowledge sharing and networking.

Held in Fleet, UK, the event will feature 14 presentation sessions across three dedicated streams, with contributions from Rohde & Schwarz specialists, industry experts and keynote speaker Michael Derby, Secretary of the EMCTLA. Demystifying EMC has

established itself as a key event for engineers, designers and industry professionals seeking to understand evolving compliance requirements and developments in electronic design. This year’s programme will cover legislation, testing techniques and practical design considerations, alongside emerging technologies and industry best practices. Sessions will explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can optimise electromagnetic interference

(EMI) system performance and streamline testing workflows, helping organisations improve efficiency and reduce time to compliance. Other topics will include reverberation chamber techniques, EMI troubleshooting strategies and practical approaches to EMC design. Attendees will gain insights into addressing potential issues early in the product development cycle, helping minimise risks and avoid costly redesigns.

The three presentation streams will run throughout the day across Hall 4, Hall 5 and IMC 4, allowing delegates to move between sessions according to their interests. An interactive ‘Ask the Experts’ panel will conclude the programme, giving attendees the opportunity to put questions directly to EMC specialists and discuss current and future industry challenges. Nathan Reeve, EMC Product Specialist at Rohde & Schwarz UK Ltd, said: “We’re delighted to bring Demystifying EMC back this year. We have a fantastic line-up of industry experts presenting across a range of topics, delivering across three dedicated streams.”

He added that the event would offer opportunities for newcomers and experienced professionals alike to learn, share knowledge and explore the latest industry developments. Demystifying EMC 2026 will run from 8am to 4.30pm on 24 November at Silverstone Circuit, Northamptonshire, NN12 8TN.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER SETS AND BREAKS HIS OWN WORLD RECORD WITH 250+ MPH REMOTE- CONTROLLED CAR DESIGNED IN PTC’S ONSHAPE A

mechanical engineer from Rugby has used nearly 25 years’ experience working with

PTC technology to help him design and develop the world’s fastest remote-controlled car. Stephen Wallis, who honed his engineering skills at companies including Royal Enfield, Triumph Motorcycles and Greenjets, took just eight months to create, build, test and then run ‘Mach Reaper’.

Designed using the power of PTC’s cloud-based Onshape solution, the car clocked 250.67mph through the timing traps at a ROSSA (Radio Operated Scale Speed Association) speed event held at Llanbedr Airfield in North Wales. This incredible achievement broke the previous Guinness World Record and makes Stephen the first person in history to push a remote-controlled car to those speeds.

Just a few weeks later he broke his own record, reaching 256.47mph at an unofficial speed event. “My passion for stretching the boundaries of

performance for remote-controlled cars began in 2024, alongside my day job. Initially, I took advantage of PTC’s free Onshape licence programme for start-up innovators and aspiring designers. “This was a fantastic initial resource and one I highly recommend. As the possibility of a world

record became more realistic, I upgraded to a professional licence, giving me access to the full functionality of the solution.” “Finite Element Analysis has also been a major advantage for simulating different suspension and aluminium wheel designs. This helped me refine the end model and, importantly, ‘eek’ out that extra bit of speed without damaging the car,” added Stephen. PTC, which has its UK headquarters in London, is a strong supporter of innovation through its broad portfolio of digital transformation solutions, including its hugely popular cloud-based CAD offering.

“Stephen’s achievement is a remarkable example of what happens when engineering talent, determination and modern product development tools come together,” said Greg Brown, Vice President of Product Management at Onshape by PTC. “Through his YouTube channel and work with students, he’s helping inspire the next generation of engineers, makers and innovators to pursue their own ambitious ideas.” Wallis isn’t stopping with his world record and is exploring plans to create a remote-controlled car capable of exceeding 300mph.
