EV CHARGEPOINT GRANTS UK employers have six months left before UK Government grants for Electric Vehicle (EV) chargepoint installations close on 31 March 2026

he grants, for hundreds or even thousands of pounds, are designed to encourage EV uptake by helping provide charging. The grants are running alongside the UK Government’s newly reinstated purchase grants for qualifying new EVs, worth up to £3,750 for a car or £500 for a motorcycle. Viktors Nikolajevs from the EV chargepoint manufacturer CTEK said: “The UK Government has extended chargepoint installation grants before but there is no guarantee it will do so again. “Workplaces especially should have an eye on the Workplace Charging Scheme grants currently available for the installation of multiple sockets, with a potential £14,000 for the maximum of 40 sockets at businesses, charities and public sector employers. “There is another maximum £15,000 available for staff and fleet charging infrastructure to help pay for up to 75 per cent of the cost of wider building work to install multiple chargepoint sockets now and to prepare parking spaces for future charging. Under the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets, businesses can receive up to five grants across five different sites. “Landlords with multiple units can also currently get chargepoint and infrastructure grants for up to 200 residential properties and 100 commercial properties each financial year.
The latest data from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) of grants paid out in the 12 months to 1 July 2025 reveals:
• 10,647 socket installations funded by the Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant (EVCG) • 7,924 sockets in workplace car parks under the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) • 2,402 sockets at schools, also under the WCS • 3,353 on-street charging devices, thanks to the On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS)
Viktors said: “Employers with staff car parks who have yet to introduce EV charging should talk to EV charging installers now to assess the potential, explore the grants available and install affordable and future-ready EV charging.” More information about the grants is available
