October has been another busy month for the electronics and engineering community, with EDS 2025, the UK’s leading engineering design show, back for another year! While we weren’t exhibiting this time, you may have spotted us exploring the show floor, checking out the latest technologies and gathering insights to share in future issues. EDS is always a fantastic opportunity to connect, and events like this help us stay close to what’s current, keeping EE right at the heart of engineering news and innovation. To find out how this year’s event went, head to page 30 where Essentra share their experience at the show. We’re equally excited to introduce our brand-new Trade Skills and Apparel features this month! Listening to our readers is incredibly important to us at EE, and as we release our 2026 editorial plan, we’re trialling new ideas inspired by your feedback.
In our new Apparel feature, Gore-Tex discusses their cutting-edge material technologies that continue to set the standard for protection and comfort. We also hear from Carhartt, who share how their legacy of craftsmanship and resilience is evolving to meet the needs of today’s modern workforce. Meanwhile, in our Trade Skills feature, we speak with AVK, a young company exploring how Gen Z wants the digital revolution to shape their careers, and SELECT, who provide valuable insight into the dangers of short training courses in electrical skills. Together, these features celebrate the everyday engineer, reflecting what you truly need and want to hear. As always, we’d love to hear from you! Let us know what you’re enjoying (or not!) about EE right now, topics you’d like us to cover, or people you’d like to hear from. Keep an eye on our socials for more updates from Coventry, and follow along as we continue bringing you the latest stories, insights and voices shaping the future of engineering.
Enjoy.
