PANEL BUILDING FEATURE
REWRITE THE CONTROL PANEL INSTALLATION RULEBOOK
The new ‘Value Design for Panel’ project from RS Components (RS) involves over 350 products, with more than 200 of them being new products with upgraded features. These bring a commonality of design and modular approach to control panel design and installation. All the products within the
Panel Solution have been re- designed to a smaller size, allowing users to save up to 50 per cent of the original required space for the same panel. The modules have also been designed to the same height, which helps with cabinet airflow to give the maximum cooling effect. Closer side-by-side mounting is also possible due to reduced power consumption (therefore generating less heat) for each model, at an ambient temperature of 55°C. Time and money are saved through the deployment of the ‘Push-In
Plus’ terminal technology, which can save up to 60 per cent in terms of wiring time. This solution is vibration proof and does not need to be re- tightened like terminals that use screws. Primarily aimed at machine and panel builders – for both conceptual
R&D designs and real-world applications – the ease at which the solutions can be deployed offers maintenance engineers a more powerful and efficient solution when replacing or enhancing legacy devices. Indeed, devices with unified specifications allow users to easily exchange modules, customising panels for each customer. With similar sizes and easy application, designers and engineers will
be faced with fewer variables in terms of size, spacing and heat dissipation, and less complicated build sequences.

www.rs-online.com GLASS TOUCH SCREEN AS STANDARD
B&R has added an operator terminal with a glass screen and multi-touch technology to its Power Panel T-Series. The new Power Panel T50 is available in widescreen variants with a diagonal of up to 10.1-inches and is equipped with a gigabit- capable Ethernet interface. With the new Power Panel T50, B&R offers a modern
operator terminal with glass touch screen for web-based or VNC-based HMI. The multi-touch technology also makes it possible to integrate gestures like zooming and swiping. Integrated edge protection safeguards the glass front during harsh everyday operation. The shallow installation depth makes the devices easy to mount in either a control cabinet or swing arm system. The Power Panel T50 comes with an integrated service page that opens
without having to be installed and offers custom settings such as IP address, DHCP server, screen saver and much more. This configuration can easily be saved on a USB flash drive and copied to other Power Panel T50 devices.

PANEL BUILDER PORTAL LAUNCHED
Schneider Electric has launched a panel builder portal for panel builders, an online portal designed to help partner panel builders win more business, boost customer satisfaction and improve skills.
The platform will allow Schneider Electric to work even closer with existing partners and bring new ones onboard. The portal has been designed to offer panel builders easy to access, in-
depth information across the full range of Schneider Electric products, as well as resources and guides on industry standards. A catalogue of e-learning courses and certification resources offer partners the chance to upskill their teams and keep up-to-date with compliance needs for electrical regulations. To help partners grow their business and offer exceptional customer service,
the panel builder portal includes a dedicated suite of business tools, including electrical design calculators and quote-building forms. These business resources are designed to make the process of specifying and quoting for projects easier, more efficient and of the highest standard for the customer. A complete catalogue of product information and specifying tools will be
available on the platform covering Schneider Electric’s full offering. Partners will benefit further from access to CAD files, software licensing updates, product substitution tools and technical support. The portal will be accessible from the desktop or mobile and is available to all Schneider Electric panel builder partners. Lee Fairburn, panel builder marketing manager at Schneider Electric, said:
“We are very excited to be kicking-off our panel builder portal in the UK. We see It as a great way to help our existing partners grow their business and have included specific tools and resources to help with this. Accessible from the desktop or mobile, we hope that PRM will become a one-stop shop for our
partner’s panel building needs.”
