Casey Porter Editor, Electrical Engineering Magazine

W

elcome to the April issue of Electrical Engineering Magazine. April has been another busy and forward-looking month for the electrical engineering sector, with a strong emphasis on fire safety and arc flash protection across the industry. A key highlight was our visit to the Health & Safety

Event at the National Exhibition Centre, where professionals came together to explore the latest developments in workplace safety, compliance and risk management. The event provided valuable insight into how safety continues to evolve alongside technological advancement, particularly within complex environments such as data centres. I was also able to have some incredible discussions, one that stuck with me was with Fire Aware CEO,

Gavin Skelly, who spoke to me about Fire Aware’s goals to change the behaviour of fire safety, as well as giving us a bit of history on Fire Aware’s conception following the tragic Grenfell tower fire of 2017. If you haven’t seen the work of Fire Aware, I highly recommend you have a look, Gavin is doing some amazing things for the industry! Events like the NEC show not only highlight innovation but also reinforce the importance of knowledge

sharing and collaboration across disciplines. As the industry continues to adapt to new challenges and opportunities, maintaining this balance between safety, efficiency and progress will be key. If you’d like to keep up to date with our latest events, insights and industry

activity, be sure to visit our website and follow our social channels. Enjoy!
