MEM CLASSIC: STILL

MANUFACTURED, STILL AVAILABLE, STILL MADE IN BRITAIN

BY ADEN AZIZ

MARKETING EXECUTIVE, KEMPSTON CONTROLS

A

cross the electrical industry, few product names carry the same level of recognition as MEM Classic.

It’s a range that has been specified, installed and relied upon for decades, earning a reputation built on consistent performance in demanding environments. Recent conversations at trade events and

industry exhibitions have only reinforced that position. The MEM brand continues to be widely recognised and well regarded among contractors, engineers and specifiers alike. However, those same conversations have also highlighted a common misconception; many are unaware that both MEMSHIELD 1 & 2 ranges are still in active production. In reality, nothing has changed in that respect. The MEMSHIELD 1 & 2 continue to be manufactured by Kempston Controls at the original factory in Holyhead, maintaining a

long-standing commitment to UK-based production. In a market where manufacturing is frequently moved overseas, this continuity provides a clear advantage: consistent quality control, dependable supply chains and support that remains close to the customer. The longevity of the MEMSHIELD 1 & 2 ranges is not simply a matter of legacy. Their continued use across industrial and commercial applications reflects a design approach that prioritises practicality, durability and compliance with current standards. These are solutions developed to perform reliably in real-world conditions, where ease of installation, robustness and long-term performance are essential. Importantly, the ranges have not stood still. MEMSHIELD 1 & 2 continue to meet modern requirements while retaining the core characteristics that have made them a trusted choice across the industry. This balance between continuity and relevance is a key factor in their ongoing success.

An important recent development for the MEMSHIELD 2 family of products is the introduction of the latest AFDD technology, designed to provide an additional layer of

protection within modern electrical installations. Arc Fault Detection Devices are engineered to identify potentially dangerous arc faults that traditional protective devices may not detect, helping to reduce the risk of electrical fires. What has become clear is that while the reputation of MEM Classic remains firmly intact, awareness of its continued availability has, in some cases, lagged behind. For specifiers and contractors seeking proven power distribution solutions, this presents an opportunity to re- engage with a product range that continues to deliver on the expectations it originally set. MEMSHIELD 1 & 2 are not legacy products revisited. They are established solutions that have remained in place, supporting projects across the UK and beyond without interruption. Still manufactured in Holyhead. Still made in

Britain. Still trusted where it matters. For any queries about the MEM Classic ranges, please contact us: 01933 411411 or sales@kempstoncontrols.co.uk
