I t’ s an op p ortunity to have serendip itous conversations w ith other delegates

w ho are hap p y to share, interested to listen and endlessly curious

As this is World of Learning, we don’t want people to churn out their tried- and-trusty TED talk. We have spent time with all of our speakers to ensure they understand our audience and they add real value to those in Conference. As ever, these keynotes will be the curtain raiser to case studies and experience sharing from those who, like me, are proud to be part of the L&D community and happy to give back to that community by sharing their stories. Whichever  role you fulfil, there ill be someone like you with challenges like yours and insufficient resources, lie you) telling you what worked, what didn’t

and what they’re doing differently now. Learning from the experiences of

others is a great shortcut to new ideas and new approaches. It’s why many of those who come to World of Learning talk positively about the presentations, panel discussions, workshops and experience exchange sessions. But they talk even more positively about the opportunity to have serendipitous conversations with other delegates who are happy to share, interested to listen and endlessly curious. There’s a reason many of the conference speakers stay around for the whole Conference – these conversations are a shot in the arm

whether you’re new to L&D or have been oring in the field for decades. There’s never only one way of doing something and there’s always something to learn. The Exhibition is also a melting pot of ideas. Here vendors, innovators and special guest speakers share all manner of insights. From TV journalist and broadcaster Steph McGovern to authors, inventors and learning designers, this is a stellar line up. Most conferences would charge a small fortune to attend this, but here it’s free! I can’t wait to experience it. I can’t

wait to introduce some incredible people, to challenge some ideas, ask some questions and help you navigate through a whirlwind event. Come and say Hi – I’m the one in the loud suit! See you there!

Robin Hoyle is World of Learning Conference Chair and Head of Learning Innovation for Huthwaite International. Robin delivers the closing Conference keynote ‘Changing the organisation - why change initiatives fail and what to do about it’ on 4 February
