Charity can count on accountants for fundraising

A team of runners from Pitsford-based J Sweeney Accountants took part in the Northampton Half Marathon last month to raise funds for a mental health and suicide awareness charity. The

team, including Director

James Sweeney, completed the 13.1- mile course which loops around Northampton town centre, taking in The Racecourse, Abington Park, the University of Northampton and then past the iconic Sixfi elds and Franklin’s Gardens stadiums. Running in support of Kelly’s Heroes,

which provides vital services to those suff ering mental health issues, or those families and friends whose lives have been aff ected by suicide, the account- ants have already raised more than £1,700 thanks to donations from family, friends and business associates. Any funds raised go towards the

charity’s initiatives, including running support groups, retreats and counsel- ling for affected families, providing awareness training to workplaces and

schools to help the wider community be better informed on mental health issues, and also helping to support those suff ering with mental ill health. T e charity also provides services to those experiencing suicidal ideation

and mental health issues. T ese include live chats and counselling services that allow people to access the support they need within days of an initial referral. Services like these are so important, especially considering that mental health support on the NHS often has months long waiting lists. James Sweeney said: “I’m so proud of the huge eff ort the team put into

training for and completing this major athletic challenge. T e money raised will be a huge help to Kelly’s Heroes and have a massive impact on the lives of those dealing with mental health issues and families aff ected by suicide. “We are big supporters of the charity, and the work they do to help people

in real need is inspiring to see, we just wanted to do something, albeit very small in the grand scheme of things, to try to raise funds and awareness for the charity.” J Sweeney Accountants off ers a full range of accountancy and fi nancial

services for SMEs, including year-end accounts, tax planning, company formation and business plans. T e fi rm also off ers outsourced fi nancial directorships for clients who don’t have an in-house fi nance department. T ere is still time to donated to the J Sweeney team’s fundraising eff orts and help them towards their target of £2,000, and in turn help fund the work of an incredible local charity.
