“El sello lo empecé con Thomass Jackson en un momento donde no había muchos sellos en Latinoamérica enfocados en sacar música dance más psicodélica y en vinilo”, comenta Iñigo.
“Decidimos llenar ese vacío y crear un espacio para nuestra propia música así como apoyar a talentos emergentes como a Colossio, Tyu o Aristidez y ayudar en sus carreras. Hoy en día seguimos tratando de buscar
únicos alejados de las tendencias mundiales pero que tengan sonidos atemporales y que después de unos años pueda escucharlos y sentir que me gustan”.
Una parte crucial de la carrera de Iñigo ha sido su conexión con espacios emblemáticos como Bar Americas y Fünk.
“Siendo local de Guadalajara yo crecí yendo a bailar al Bar Americas todos los fines de semana desde que fui mayor de edad. Es un club que hoy en día sigue siendo de mis favoritos del mundo, porque el público que va es el mejor, siempre lo dan todo, y siempre van con la mejor cara. Es por eso que con Calypso Cvlt tengo mi residencia, es un lugar que además ha apoyado la escena local desde siempre y ha visto crecer a mucho del mejor talento nacional hoy en día. Fünk por su parte en Ciudad de México es un lugar que lleva apenas 3 años pero lo han estado haciendo muy bien con grandes propuestas musicales y un gran audio y hacen falta más lugares que se tomen así de en serio su lugar”.
La colaboración con una variedad de artistas internacionales y latinoamericanos ha sido una parte integral del éxito de Calypso Records.

importante en mi carrera no solo con mi sello sino para producciones propias o remixes, me encanta trabajar con artistas que enriquecen mi mundo como lo hice en el pasado con Red Axes o Nicola Cruz o remixes que hice a Yuksek o Metronomy. Siempre me encanta colaborar con artistas que me inspiran”.

Since its foundation five years ago, Calypso Records has been a driving force in the music scene, bringing psychedelic and avant-gar- de sounds to the ears of listeners worldwide. We spoke with Iñigo Vontier, co-founder of the label, about the evolution of Calypso Records and its impact on the global music scene.
“I started the label with Thomass Jackson at a time when there weren’t many labels in Latin America focused on releasing more psychedelic dance music on vinyl,” comments Iñigo.
”We decided to fill that void and create a space for our own music as well as support emerging talents like Colossio, Tyu, or Aristidez and help in their ca- reers. Today we continue to try to find more unique releases, away from global trends but with time- less sounds that after a few years, I can listen to them and feel that I like them.”
A crucial part of Iñigo’s career has been his connection with iconic spaces like Bar Americas and Fünk.
“Being a local from Guadalajara, I grew up going to dance at Bar Americas every weekend since I was of legal age. It is a club that today remains one of my favorites in the world because the audience that goes there is the best, they always give their all, and they always go with the best attitude. That’s why I have my residency with Calypso Cvlt, it’s a place that has also supported the local scene since always and has seen many of the best national talent grow today. Fünk, on the other hand, in Mexico City, is a place that has only been around for 3 years but they have been doing very well with great musical proposals and great sound, and more places are needed that take their place as seriously.”

“Collaborating with artists has been an impor- tant part of my career not only with my label but for my own productions or remixes, I love working with artists who enrich my world as I did in the past with Red Axes or Nicola Cruz or
I did for Yuksek or Metronomy. I always love collaborating with artists who inspire me.”
