We spoke with Toni Varga, an artist who is more than an exponent, a global reference. Awarded as a breakthrough DJ and being one of the residents of Elrow, one of the most influential Spanish brands worldwide, in our interview with him, we revisited his career from its beginnings to his upcoming plans.
The story of Toni Varga begins in Galicia, where he started his journey as a promoter.
“I spent nights in the booths watching the DJs I brought
to play and that awakened something
inside me. My friends saw this passion growing in me and gifted me my first DJ set to play at home”.
Eventually, I began to do the warm-up for the international artists I hired for my events, and that’s how it all started. His role as a musical director of music.

In Galicia, he undoubtedly became a catalyst for the music scene. “We would hire an international artist and I would warm up the floor well, which gave me a lot of exposure,” recalls Varga. This early exposure at his own events forged friendships and industry knowledge that quickly helped him grow as an artist.
“On my first trip to Ibiza, I remember going to Amnesia and my friend Paco Osuna was playing, he brought me into the booth with him and there I met important people of the night that would later change my career forever. “All the big bosses of the nightlife were there, from those of Cocoon to the owner of Amnesia”. From there began the parties in villas with renowned artists like Marco Carola, and residencies at some parties in Amnesia Ibiza, definitively settling on the island since 2004. During those years, his sessions made a mark on both the public and various artists and promoters. This led him to Viladecans, where in a venue that expanded to become an internationally recognized party, he joined the Elrow family.
“Much is said about the word ‘family’ when we talk about Elrow, and it really is like a family. We all work together, we have the same philosophy and we work to offer the best show possible”.
Being part of this team shows us that there are two versions of the artist that feed each other, creating a single entity. “When I play at Elrow, we all have the vision of being one, from the guest to all the residents. We are creating something magical at each party”. Here Toni shows us that this connection he has with other colleagues allows him to offer his version as an individual artist, musically transporting us to powerful sessions with a style that is a constant synergy. Toni Varga is the best example of an artist who can be on any line up, whether in any part of Europe or America, carrying electronics in his veins and adapting to any place.
“I always try to arrive a bit before my set time, so I can watch the audience and analyze what they like, so I adapt my session (always within my style) to try to make them have a good time, which should be the final goal of any DJ always. This is something many artists are forgetting, and it’s a shame because we owe it to the audience, the important thing is that they enjoy”.

Toni has experienced countless memorable mo- ments and unexpected situations. From improvising on unforeseen stages to interacting with a diverse and energetic audience, each performance has been an adventure. “Music, in the end, is a connection with people,” says Toni. “It doesn’t matter if you’re playing for ten people or ten thousand, the essential thing is to transmit an emotion, create a bond, a joint vibration that resonates with your
audience”.
And this is something he achieves even against all odds, Toni shares an anecdote from one of his endless world tours, like the time he left his Mac on the airport security tray. “Imagine, I was playing with Traktor Scratch at that time and realized it during a layover. I called the airport and they had it stored”, so he had to use his partner’s computer. “Thankfully, I had my music on a USB and left it copied on the computer we were going to do the back-to-back with. The funny part comes when they come to pick us up, they have to take us by boat to a small island where we were playing in New Caledonia, and, getting off, there was no port, you jump ashore and due to a misunderstanding, the backpack with all the remaining equipment we had fell into the sea. In the end, we were lucky and we managed to fix it and play, but we got quite a scare”, he tells us with a laugh.
We cannot forget about his upcoming projects, (some works have just been released on Dennis Cruz’s label, Muse, and he will soon be publishing an EP on the Italian label Moan and also on Tbx, in addition to a tour in the USA in February). He makes it clear that Toni has a lot prepared for 2024.
At the time of farewell, we talk about how incredible electronic music is in his life. We encourage him to give us a closing for the article about what electronic music means to him: “Electronic music is not just a genre, it’s a universal language”, reflects Varga, “and I’m lucky enough to speak that language every day”. This versatility was not just an artistic choice, but a necessity: “I’ve had to open and close sessions for a wide range of artists, which has given me a great read of the floor and versatility.” Thanks to his ability to be a living organism within
electronics, he adapts and
surprises both friends and strangers, remaining at the forefront of the scene.
Delving deeper into his vision of electronic music, he tells us about how he has witnessed the transformation of the scene, an industry that has experienced tremendous growth and evolution. “I’ve seen how technology has changed the way we crea- te and share music,” he notes. “But, at the end of the day, what really matters is the passion and the story that each track, each set, each performance tells”.
