the Civic’s length owing to a very clever design that draws the eyes upwards rather than along its length, making it ap pear far shorter than it actu ally is. Although classed as a com
pact estate, once you fold flat the rear seats to create a lev el loadspace there’s the po tential to claim 1,668 litres of
the low-down boot lid, heavy andbulkyobjectscanbelifted in with ease. From the front to the B-pil-
lars, it’s the same model as the Civic Hatch - it’s just the over hang that makes for the extra space. Although I didn’t find it a problem, others who drove it during our week-long test found the high waistline a hin- drancewhenjudgingdistances. As with the hatch, the seats
are comfortable and the in terior is finished with high- grade plastics.

relatively light and driving the Civic Tourer is a rewarding experience. There are cheaper tourers
on the market but there are few, if any, that look as svelte as this one undoubtedly does, If you want a load lugger
that doesn’t advertise the fact that it needs to work for a liv ing, then this is certainly one to consider. The entry-level S will set
(claimed mpg is 72.4) and it emitted a paltry i03g/km CO2, I was somewhat mollified. As we were driving the
top of the range EX-Plus, it came heavily speccedupwith smart entry and start, lumbar supported seats, 17-inch al
